Today on Sunday Supper Super Stars: Courtney from Neighborfood
Who is Courtney: Hello, my name is Courtney Rowland and I’m the author, recipe developer, photographer, and flour-dusted person behind the blog Neighborfood. I started blogging in 2011, after unexpectedly falling in love with cooking and baking (much to everyone’s surprise). I live in an urban neighborhood in Columbus, OH with my husband of four years. I like to spend my free time exploring the city, trying out new restaurants, drinking Chai tea lattes, singing along to Frank Sinatra, and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes.
I love the way food brings people together. I consider Neighborfood my virtual table, and I hope everyone feels welcome to come, make themselves comfortable, and share something delicious.
Her favorite #SundaySupper theme so far: My favorite Sunday Supper theme was “Big Family Meals” when I made Classic Spaghetti and Meatballs with Homemade Tomato Sauce. Every part about creating this post felt like a labor of love. It took some time, but the smell of tomato sauce gently bubbling on the stove was more than enough reward. It’s the kind of dish that draws people to the kitchen to taste test and help roll meatballs. To me, it embodies everything I love about cooking–the intoxicating smells, getting your hands dirty, drawing people together, and of course enjoying the finished product! This post also includes some of the photos I am most proud of on my blog.
Her most popular #SundaySupper post: My most popular Sunday Supper post is Slow Cooker Beef Brisket French Dip Sandwiches made for the Slow Cooker theme. The slow cooker transforms tough beef brisket into tender, fall apart, ultra flavorful beef. Obviously, I had to cover it in cheese and make it into a sandwich. Looks like I’m not the only one who can’t resist a gooey, cheesy, meaty sandwich!
Fun Fact: In high school and college, I participated in several musicals and plays. My favorite role was Laurie in Oklahoma! I still love to sing and help lead worship at my church, but it’s my dream to one day be back on stage for a musical again. Unfortunately, my Oklahoma performance was pre-Facebook so I wasn’t able to track down a photo (seriously, I have no evidence that I was alive before 2005), but I did find this picture of my roommate and I taken after a West Side story show. I was a Jet and she was a Shark!
