Today on Sunday Supper Super Stars: Katie from Ruffles & Truffles
Who is Katie: I am the cook, stylist, and DIY’er behind Ruffles & Truffles. By day, I take on the role of a technology instructor (making creative movies, finding awesome new iPad apps, using a green screen, trying our hands at robotics, and attempting to keep a class full of children under control). The remainder of the time you can be sure to find me shopping for a great new fashion find, amazing beauty buy, or whipping up something scrumptious in my kitchen.
I am thankful to have grown up with a mother who loves to cook, which is where my passion for food developed. I truly believe food is a way to show love, and sharing meals around the family table is serious business with us (ok: it’s not really serious…we are always laughing, singing, and sharing stories. But darn it, we take our food seriously!).
I currently live and work in the sunny, beachy, and beautiful Tampa Bay area with my husband and our two furbabies, Lucia and Sherman.
Her favorite #SundaySupper theme (or recipe) so far: My favorite Sunday Supper recipe to date was from our Desserts in Jars themed week! Honestly, I create more savory food than sweet, so making a dessert in a jar really challenged me. The Triple Berry Crisps that resulted were absolutely perfect for my berry crisp and berry pie loving husband.
Her most popular #SundaySupper post: My most popular Sunday Supper post is from back in December of 2012! These Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies are actually a semi homemade treat with the help of a boxed cake mix…sometimes a shortcut is essential when the holidays roll around, am I right?
Random Fun Facts: I met my husband at the pet beach! I was walking my dog Theo, and he was walking Lucia (a puppy at the time). We started talking, hit it off, and the rest is history (we just celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary). And, because we are both animal lovers, Justin and I adopted our newest pup, Sherman, back in March of this year! He and Lucia quickly became the best of friends.
I’ve lived in six different states and attended nine different schools. My family was always on the move when I was a child (and no – we weren’t in the military).
Music has always been a passion of mine. I began taking voice lessons when I was in middle school, and kept the training up through college. At one point, I was hoping to be an opera singer or be involved with musical theatre (I was actually the lead in my high school musical, haha!), but I wimped out and changed course. Now…I just sing in my car a lot. Don’t judge me if you see me next to you at a red light.
