Today on Sunday Supper Super Stars: Sarah from Curious Cuisiniere
Who is Sarah: I’m Sarah Ozimek, founder and writer of Curious Cuisiniere. A St. Louisan by birth, college brought me north to Wisconsin, where I met and married my best friend, fellow adventurer, and partner in culinary curiosity. Developing recipes for healthy, hearty meals and the promise of a garden come spring are what get me through the cold winters.
My mom is the inspiration for my cooking and for the blog. Cooking runs deep in the women of her French-Canadian family. Hearing my grandparents speak French while I was growing up sparked a curiosity about my heritage and a desire to learn as much as I could about other cultures.
Curious Cuisiniere is where I chronicle our adventures in the kitchen: fueled by a need to always learn new things, a passion for healthy living, and a deep belief that the heart of each family and culture resides at the table.
Her favorite #SundaySupper theme so far: My favorite Sunday Supper theme was “branching out on a new culinary adventure”. I featured Venison Steak Gyros. I loved this theme because it was such a challenge, and it was fun to see how the other members challenged themselves as well. Even though gyros are a big thing in Milwaukee, where I went to college, I first tried them while I was studying abroad in Paris my sophomore year. Nothing beats walking around with a pita piled high with gyro meat and fries. But, we were excited to be able to lighten up the dish by using lean venison and still keep true to the same flavors we love.
Her most popular #SundaySupper post: I have been a member of the Sunday Supper Movement since December of 2012. My most popular Sunday Supper post has been Homemade Teriyaki Sauce. We are all about trying to make as many condiments and ‘pantry staples’ from scratch as we can. And, while we have our share of interesting outcomes, it’s always fun to see what we can create with ingredients on hand. Apparently, others love it as much as we do, because the response to this post has blown us away.
Fun Fact: When I’m not cooking or taking care of our yard, I love to be outdoors. Hiking, biking, and kayaking are some of my favorite activities.
Awards/Features: I have been featured as Foodista’s blog of the day and have a monthly recipe published in a local magazine.
