Today on Sunday Supper Super Stars: Wendy from The Weekend Gourmet
Who is Wendy: I’m a native Texan who grew up in the Houston area, but I currently live in San Antonio. My husband, Michael, does all of my dining out and travel photography, so it’s a really fun thing for us to do together! We have two very spoiled cats: Lucy (our 10-year-old orange diva) and Maggie (aka Pie, our sassy little girl). They’re both represented in the banner header of the blog! When we’re not enjoying great food, we love to do the following: watch movies (both in the theater or at home) – we’re huge movie buffs, listen to music/go to concerts (Sting & Paul Simon is our latest show), and travel.
Her favorite #SundaySupper theme so far: This is our July 4th celebration for 2012, and I shared a Louisiana/Texas fusion potato salad: Texas-Creole Crawfish Potato Salad. It’s my favorite post because it really shows what The Weekend Gourmet is all about: Big-Flavor Cooking. This is exactly the kind of food that I share with my family and friends during Summer cookouts.
Her most popular #SundaySupper post: This was the Comfort Food Sunday Supper, and I shared one of my favorite comfort classics: Down-Home Comforting Shrimp & Grits. It’s my most-pinned #SundaySupper dishes, and has gone on to become one of my blog’s Top 10 most-popular recipes of all time!
Fun Facts: I’m an attorney and Government Market Analyst by day…and food writer nights and weekends. One pays the bills, the other is my creative outlet to share my passion about food. I may be in my 40s, but I’m very young at heart and refuse to grow old…not voluntarily, anyway!!
Awards: Gulf Oyster Industry Council’s James Beard Taste America Guest Blogger in New York, October 2013. I also took part in Red Gold Tomato’s Taste of the NFL Blogger Weekend in 2012.
