Here at Sunday Supper Movement, it really doesn’t matter to us what draws you back around the family table. Whether it’s a simple Weekday Supper or special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries or holidays, the important thing is that you are gathering together to share a meal. That said, if you’ve been reading our recipes for a while, you know how we feel about beef and holiday beef roast recipes in particular. There’s just something about a big beautifully roasted piece of beef that says celebration to us, making even a simple family dinner into something special.
So today, instead of our usual Weekday Supper, I’m sharing a baker’s dozen holiday beef roasts from our Sunday Supper tastemakers. We recommend you use Certified Angus Beef® brand roasts for the best flavor and tenderness. And, if you haven’t already, make sure to download the Roast Perfect app for your smart phone to take the guesswork out of cooking your roast. The Roast Perfect app helps you pick a cut and choose the correcting cooking temperature and time for its weight, so it cooks perfectly. Every single time.
Tenderloin Beef Roast Recipes
First up we have three tenderloin recipes for you. True, it’s one of the more costly beef cuts, but it’s quite lean so it’s a great choice for those watching their calories. Usually served rare or medium rare, tenderloin is also quicker to the table. Slice it thinly and add Sunday Supper side dishes for a special meal your family will love.
This tenderloin from Renee’s Kitchen Adventures is all about the garlic and herbs. Add a dry rub and let it infuse the meat for several hours before roasting for the best results.
We are in love with the gorgonzola pepper cream sauce that accompanies Crazed Mom‘s beautiful tenderloin roast. If your family loves blue cheese, this may be a new favorite for you.
Don’t save this port wine and cranberry sauce just for Thanksgiving or Christmas. These bright rich flavors complement roasted tenderloin all year round.
Strip Loin, Ribeye, Ball tip, and Tri Tip Beef Roast Recipes
This next grouping of recipes demonstrate the many cuts and versatility of beef as a family favorite. Remember, whichever roast you choose, the Roast Perfect app will show you how to cook it just to your preferred doneness and even suggest recipes you might like to try.
This great recipe from Wishes and Dishes takes a strip loin roast and splits it in two, for a faster cooking time and even more crusty golden brown deliciousness on all sides. This is a great roast recipe to feed a crowd.
In addition to the beautiful marbling of all Certified Angus Beef®, ribeye roasts have an additional pocket of fat inside that keeps them even more juicy when roasting. Try this one from Hezzi-D’s Books and Cooks with a red wine sauce.
New York strip loin roasts have a fat cap which also keeps them juicy when roasting. Get your butcher to trim it down to 1/4 inch thickness, to make sure it gets nice and crispy in the oven. Add even more flavor with a garlic, thyme and sage rub, like this one from Wishes and Dishes.
Put an Asian spin on your roast beef with a beer, soy, hoisin, rice wine vinegar marinade from Food Done Light. Marinating, especially with something acidic like vinegar, helps tenderize the beef, as it adds flavor.
Honey and mustard are a classic combination, adding a touch of both sweetness and spice to this tri tip roast from Cindy’s Recipes and Writings. Also known as the poor man’s ribeye, the tri tip is one of the more economical cuts of beef.
Prime Rib Beef Roast Recipes
Our last beef roast category is the king of special occasions, the prime rib roast. Whether boneless or standing proudly on its bones, the prime rib on a carving board is an impressive sight to behold.
First up is a classic prime rib recipe from That Skinny Chick Can Bake, seasoned simply with salt and pepper to let the flavor of the meat shine through. Cook it long and slow, then crisp up the outside by cranking the oven temperature up at the end.
Creamy horseradish sauce is a traditional accompaniment to prime rib, or indeed, any roast beef. Try this one from Hezzi-D’s Books and Cooks made with sour cream, horseradish, spices, and chives, along with her perfectly cooked prime rib roast.
If you are looking for a showstopper, any one of these prime rib roasts would fit the bill, but this Cranberry Crust Prime Rib Roast from Cupcakes and Kale Chips adds garlic, fresh cranberries, chopped parsley and lemon zest for additional color. Check it out.
Another prime rib roast seasoned simple with salt and pepper, this beauty from Life Tastes Good adds a garlic crust that is spread on the roast and left to infuse overnight in the refrigerator for maximum flavor. Don’t you wish you could have smelled this roasting? Seriously, look at that golden crust!
Last but certainly not least, is this chorizo-stuffed standing rib roast from The Crumby Cupcake. Easy to follow instructions – and even a diagram – show you how to add the stuffing to this gorgeous roast.
