Today on Sunday Supper Super Stars: Alida from Alida’s Kitchen
Who is Alida: I’m a Minnesota girl, born and raised in the Twin Cities. I married a Minnesota boy over 5 years ago and we have two beautiful children – Adam (4) and Greta (1). After Adam was born, I left my career in reinsurance of 10+ years to become a full time mom and never looked back. My kids are awesome! When I’m not being a mom or in the kitchen, you will find me running or attending a favorite fitness class at the gym – spinning, Insanity or Body Pump. The exercise hobby helps offset my tasty little hobby in the kitchen!
As a child I often read cookbooks instead of picture books and imagined creating my own recipes. I have always had a passion for cooking and baking, trying new recipes and challenging myself to make seemingly indulgent food a bit lighter and healthier. Early in 2011, Mike and I were talking over dinner about how neat it would be to start a blog. He encouraged me to grab my camera and snap a picture of this Crustless Broccoli Cheddar Quiche. Then in secret, I started building a website for Alida’s Kitchen, shared it with Mike once it was ‘ready’ and went live in May, 2011! The past almost 3 years have been more than I could have ever dreamed, from the friendships to the professional development to all the tasty recipes!
Her favorite #SundaySupper theme (or recipe) so far: Mike requests this recipe (Buffalo Chicken Lasagna Cups) over and over again. They are spicy, cheesy, made on the lighter side, and a fun way to enjoy a healthier version of buffalo chicken!
Her most popular #SundaySupper post: A quick and easy method for enjoying a classic favorite made in a healthy way. This (Baked Barbecue Chicken) is one of my mom’s favorite recipes – she makes it almost every week. It’s just so simple and tasty!
Random Fact: As most true Minnesotans, I was born with skates on – ice skates anyway. In my teens I discovered a love of inline skating. In 2003, I became a proud finisher of the North Shore Inline Skate Marathon and skated 26.2 miles from Two Harbors to Duluth, Minnesota.
Features and Awards: Alida’s Kitchen was awarded the honor of Circle of Mom’s Foodie Moms ‘Blog to Watch’ in 2013. Alida’s Kitchen has also been featured on Cosmopolitan, Babble, iVillage, Huffington Post, Foodgawker, Tastespotting and other food photography websites.
