The butterflied turkey technique is perfect for shortening the cook time and making it so easy to handle!
– Whole Turkey – Salt – Pepper – Dried Minced Garlic – Melted Butter – Butter Flavored Nonstick Cooking Spray
Thanks to the spatchcock technique, it cooks more evenly than a turkey that has not been butterflied!
Pat the turkey dry and lay it breast side down.
Using shears, cut up the whole back side of the turkey. Make the cut from end to end. Repeat this for the other side.
Turn over and give the breast a push in the middle, to try to separate the bone. Push until it lays flatter.
Spray with the nonstick spray. In a bowl, mix the minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
Coat in the seasoning. Wrap in plastic and let it rest in the fridge for a day.
Preheat the smoker to 300℉. Place the whole turkey right on the grates for 2 hours.
Every hour, brush on melted butter. Once done let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
