Apple Tart

The layered apples, golden brown crust and a sprinkling of raw sugar crystals make for a treat out of a fancy French café.

– Puff pastry – Apples – Brown sugar – Vanilla extract – Cinnamon – Unsalted butter – Salt – Egg – Turbinado sugar

Preheat the oven to 400°F. Thaw out a sheet of puff pastry. While the oven is preheating, slice the apples thinly.

Add apples to a bowl with brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, melted butter and salt. Then mix.

Layer the apples onto the pastry sheets. Spoon any remaining sugar mix over the apples.

Beat the egg, then use a pastry brush to brush the egg on to the exposed edges of the puff pastry.

Sprinkle sugar over each pastry to add crunch, then bake for 20 minutes

Remove, slice if desired, and serve immediately! This pastry pairs beautifully with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream.
