Sauteed Apples

Sautéed Apples is a quick and simple recipe that would be great served over breakfast pancakes and waffles. It can also be eaten on its own as a dessert or spooned over ice cream for a perfect night cap.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz unsalted butter
  • 2 granny smith apples
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • A pinch of nutmeg
  • A pinch of cardamom
  • A pinch of allspice
  • A pinch of kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • ¼ cup water

Instructions

  • Peel and cut apple into ¼” slices.
  • Mix sugar with spices in a small bowl and set aside.
  • In another small bowl, dissolve cornstarch in ¼ cup of water and set aside.
  • Melt butter in a sauce pan over medium heat.
  • Add apple to the pan and sauté until almost tender stirring constantly, about 4 - 5 minutes.
  • Add the cornstarch mixture and the sugar mixture to the pan and allow to boil for 1 - 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • Take off the heat and enjoy.
