Equipment

  • 1 jar for storing
  • 1 Bowl for mixing

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons black sesame seeds
  • 2 Tablespoons white sesame seeds
  • 2 Tablespoons dried minced garlic
  • 2 Tablespoons dried minced onion
  • 1 Tablespoon coarse kosher salt use half for lower sodium
  • 4 Tablespoons black poppy seeds

Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients together in a bowl.
    2 Tablespoons black sesame seeds, 2 Tablespoons white sesame seeds, 2 Tablespoons dried minced garlic, 2 Tablespoons dried minced onion, 1 Tablespoon coarse kosher salt, 4 Tablespoons black poppy seeds

Notes

  • For a spicy blend, add 1 tablespoon of crushed red peppers
  • For a smoky blend, add 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
  • For an Asian fusion blend, add 1 Tablespoon dried minced ginger
  • I do not recommend using table salt for this recipe. You want a larger flake or sized salt for the texture. I like to use coarse kosher salt, but also enjoy using flaked sea salt or pretzel salt. 
  • If you are unable to find black sesame seeds at your local grocery store I have found them at Indian and Asian markets, as well as online. Black sesame seeds are not required.
