Smothered  Pork Chops

This is a classic Southern bone in pork chop recipes, and one of the best comfort food recipes ever!

You will need...

salt paprika black pepper garlic powder onion powder bone-in pork chops all-purpose flour vegetable oil yellow onion garlic unsalted butter chicken broth buttermilk water parsley

Seasoned and lightly breaded thin cut pork chops are simmered in rich and creamy onion gravy!

Flour Bowl

Whisk together salt, paprika, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Sprinkle over. each pork chop

Coat each side of the pork chop in a light layer of the flour.

Place a skillet over medium heat. Add oil. Brown pork chops on each side until golden. Remove pork chops.

Add onion to skillet and cook. Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant.

Push onion and garlic to the side. Add butter in the center. Once it melts, mix in the flour. Stir until the mixture becomes golden.

Pour in broth while whisking, then mix with onions and garlic. Bring to a boil, then reduce to medium-low and simmer.

Reduce heat to low and whisk in buttermilk and water. Nestle back in the pork chops, cover, and continue to simmer.

Serve pork chops warm with  gravy and a light sprinkling of fresh parsley. Enjoy!
