Happy Sunday!
It’s been a difficult couple of weeks. Where there are good times, there are bad times; but, like everything else, one thing is for certain: life goes on!
The only good thing about hurricane season is having Reis and Jordin evacuate with us to Currahee Club. Reis couldn’t be without wifi for work, so he decided they would take the trip up here and relax at our mountain home. When I tell you we had a wonderful time with them, I mean it couldn’t have been more enjoyable!
When raising your children, you don’t realize that some of the most overwhelming parts of everyday life are what you will truly miss when they’re adults. I love cooking their favorite meals and doing their laundry (yes, I’m being serious! I never in a million years thought I would ever say this). It’s so nice to spend quality time with your adult children and spoil them. I even upgraded my laundry room with the best washer and dryer in a stunning charcoal grey color that perfectly matches the tile, and love how it all ties together! This has made me the happiest person doing laundry.
As much as I love having our entire family together, it is nice to have one-on-one time with each of your children. To appreciate who our children have become as adults is something I wouldn’t trade for the world.

This visit really was so special, and much-needed stress relief for all of us. I love it here, and so do they! Reis, Riley, and Ron went golfing, and if you can believe it, Ron even got a hole-in-one! He recently got these new golf shoes, and he’s convinced they were the reason for his lucky shot! It was a special moment for them to share. Of course, they immediately called Ronnie to get him in on the action.
We decided we would explore the local wineries, and visited two new ones. One of them offered the most amazing lunch. Reis and Ron said it was the best chicken parmesan they’d ever tasted, and I have to admit, it’s true! Mountain air makes everything better.
With the crisp, cool breeze, I was glad I had layered up! I wore my button-down long sleeve top layered with a cozy sweater vest, paired with these adorable wide leg jeans and my favorite brown belt. And, of course, my trusty white Adidas sneakers kept me comfortable all day!
Can you guess what Reis’s dinner request was? I bet you did… you know my kids are crazy about my meatballs and meat sauce, just like Ron. Boy, oh boy, did it turn out amazing this time. It tasted even better sitting out on our deck enjoying the golf course views. It was chilly, though! We had to use our outdoor heater to keep warm – something we never thought we’d need after all these years of living in Florida.
We had two other special guests this week: Liam and Otis! Our dogs Kev and Lip were thrilled to have their friends around. The four of them played hard every day, whether it was out back playing fetch with Ron or exploring the yard. It’s such a relief knowing exactly where they are with these airtag dog collars. Honestly, I’ll never go back to the old ones. By the end of the day, I quickly had 4 dog-foodies following me into the kitchen begging for some treats every time I walked in!
Through it all, we remain incredibly grateful that none of our homes were damaged in the recent hurricanes. We count our blessings every day, and this little slice of mountain life has been the perfect reminder to slow down, breathe, and enjoy the moments that matter most.
With love and gratitude,
Isabel 💗
