Air Fryer Bacon Wrapped Asparagus
By far, one of my favorite veggies to prepare for a side dish or appetizer is asparagus. These little green stalks have so much flavor! Needless to say, cooking asparagus is a specialty of mine; I love pan-frying, roasting, and air frying asparagus. I’ve even made asparagus fries.
Ron and I love bacon, so wrapping asparagus in bacon seemed like an obvious choice when planning my next air fryer asparagus recipe. So, after plenty of testing, I developed this bacon wrapped asparagus air fryer recipe to share with you! It’s the easiest way to cook bacon wrapped asparagus.
Why You’ll Love Bacon Wrapped Asparagus in the Air Fryer
It’s fast
You can make bacon-wrapped asparagus in the air fryer in 30 minutes or less, making it a great choice for a last-minute side dish or appetizer. Due to the longer preheating time required for a traditional oven, air frying bacon wrapped asparagus is much faster.
It pairs well with everything
Bacon-wrapped asparagus is a versatile dish you can enjoy with everything from steak and fish to chicken and pork. You can serve it for an average weeknight dinner, or for special occasions such as the holidays!
Bacon Wrapped Asparagus Ingredients
- Asparagus: You will need fresh, trimmed asparagus spears. I recommend trimming the woody ends of your asparagus bundles using a knife or kitchen scissors, and not snapping the asparagus, which can remove some of the edible portion of the stalk. Thicker stalks will take longer to cook than thinner stalks.
- Bacon: I’m using thick-cut bacon for my bacon wrapped asparagus recipe, not regular cut bacon. If you’re using thinner bacon, keep in mind that it will take less cook time, so you’ll have to watch that the bacon doesn’t burn.
- Olive Oil: I recommend using light olive oil for air frying because it has a higher smoke point.
- Parmesan: A sprinkle of Parmesan cheese adds so much complementary flavor to this simple dish!
- Seasoning: The veggie seasoning I’m using is a mix of garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
Add a Little Sweetness
If you like a little sweetness with your bacon wrapped asparagus, try adding a bit of maple syrup. Maple pairs well with bacon, and it will taste even more delicious with crispy asparagus stalks.
How to Air Fry Bacon Wrapped Asparagus
Season Asparagus
Trim asparagus, then add it to a shallow bowl with olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until the asparagus spears are evenly coated.
Wrap Asparagus in Bacon
Make bacon-wrapped asparagus bundles using 3-4 pieces of asparagus to wrap with a slice of bacon. This should make 6-8 bundles of bacon-wrapped asparagus.
Add Asparagus Bundles to Air Fryer
Place the asparagus bundles in your air fryer basket or on the air fryer tray. Do not overcrowd your air fryer; you may need to air fry in batches!
Air Fry Asparagus
Air fry at 360 degrees F for 25-30 minutes, until the bacon is cooked to your liking and the asparagus is fork-tender. Once ready, remove from the air fryer and serve with freshly grated parmesan cheese. Enjoy!

Expert Tips for Air Frying Asparagus in Bacon
- Be sure not to overcrowd your air fryer. If you do, your bacon-wrapped asparagus will not cook properly. Cook in batches if necessary.
- Light olive oil has a higher smoke point than extra virgin olive oil, so I recommend you use it. But, you can also use avocado oil.
- I recommend trimming asparagus with a knife and avoiding snapping it. Snapping the stalks can remove edible parts, too! You will get more out of your asparagus by slicing off the woody ends instead.
- Remember that using thinner cut bacon will change the cooking time. Keep an eye on the asparagus bundles if your bacon is not thick-cut.
Storing and Reheating
Store leftover air fryer asparagus and bacon bundles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. You can reheat in the air fryer for 3-5 minutes or until heated through.
Air Fryer Asparagus FAQ
Yes, you can air fry asparagus by itself. Make sure not to overcrowd your air fryer. Season your asparagus after trimming it, then air fry for 8-10 minutes at 360 degrees F. Once your asparagus is fork-tender and crisp to your liking, remove and serve.
No, I would recommend thawing your asparagus overnight in the refrigerator first. Frozen asparagus won’t turn out crispy in the air fryer.
Isabel’s Air Fryer
It’s amazing what you can cook with an air fryer! I love mine and highly recommend it. It even has a steaming function to re-hydrate stale bread!
