Air Fried Pork Chops
One of my favorite dinners to make for my family is pork chops. But of course, if you have any distractions at all (and who doesn’t?), there’s a chance you might accidentally overcook the chops and have them dry out. I know I’ve had that happen more than once!
A good sauce (like garlic butter) can fix a dried pork chops recipe, but I’d rather that not be an issue in the first place. An easy way to make sure you they stay moist while cooking is to air fry pork chops!
Air fryer pork chops are a total lifesaver and time-saver. They take under 20 minutes to make all told, and your only intervention while they cook will be to flip them halfway through. That’s it. No poking or prodding and wondering if they’re going to be done soon!
I just know you’re going to love these air fryer breaded pork chops. They are truly delicious, easy to make, and perfect for a quick dinner recipe over the weekdays or as a part of your dinner ideas.
FAQ for Boneless Pork Chops in Air Fryer
Thin pork chops (½ inch thick, boneless) take 5 minutes on one side, and 4-6 minutes on the opposite side, to cook in the air fryer at a preheated temperature of 400°F. Thick pork chops (1½ to 2 inches thick, bone-in) will take slightly longer, about 6 minutes on each side.
After air frying the pork chops for at least 9 minutes total, check the internal temperature using a meat thermometer to tell if they are done cooking. The temperature should read 140°F. Once they reach this temperature, remove the pork chops from the air fryer and allow them to rest 5 minutes. The temperature will rise slightly as they rest.
You can air fry bone-in pork chops, though thicker pork chops will take slightly longer to cook than thin boneless chops. Air fry thick bone-in pork chops for a total of 12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
You can air fry pork chops with flour if you like. Pork chops dredged in flour, egg, and breadcrumbs work well in the air fryer just as panko pork chops do following the same instructions. Spray them liberally with olive oil spray so they do not stick to the tray.
Can you put frozen pork chops in air fryer?
If you’re in a hurry, you can cook (thin, boneless) pork chops from frozen in the air fryer by first cooking them for 4 minutes at 380°F. This will defrost the chops (add another minute if necessary or if your chops are 1-inch thick. Thicker pork chops may require more time defrosting).
From there, you can coat them in the seasoning and breadcrumbs and follow the recipe as instructed, cooking another 5 minutes before flipping, then completing the cook time at another 4-6 minutes. Make sure to measure the internal temperature with a meat thermometer and cook for longer if it is not 140°F.
Air Fryer Breaded Pork Chops Ingredients
- Boneless pork chops (½-inch thick)
- Panko seasoned breadcrumbs
- Parmesan cheese, grated
- Eggs
- Paprika
- Garlic powder
- Salt and pepper
How to Cook Pork Chops in an Air Fryer
- Combine panko, parmesan cheese, paprika, garlic powder, and salt and pepper in a bowl. In a separate bowl, beat eggs.
- Dip the pork chops first in the beaten eggs, coating completely. Then dip in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing down to adhere the crumbs to the pork chops. Coat both sides and gently shake off any excess.
- Preheat air fryer to 400°F. Once preheated, spray each side of the pork chops using cooking spray, and place in the air fryer basket.
- Cook 5 minutes, then flip and cook another 4-6 minutes, until browned and crispy. Measure the internal temperature using a meat thermometer (it should reach 140°F).
- Remove from the air fryer and allow to rest 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
Recipe Tips
- You can use bone-in pork chops if you prefer. If using bone-in pork chops, especially if they are thicker than ½-inch, they will most likely need to cook for longer than boneless. Cook for about 12 minutes total – 6 minutes on one side, 6 minutes on the next.
- Always check the internal temperature using a meat thermometer, especially if using thicker pork chops or pork chops cooked from frozen.
- Let the pork chops rest 5 minutes after cooking.
What to Serve with Pork Chops
I always serve my Air Fryer Pork Chops with Cheesy Orzo Risotto and Instant Pot Green Beans. This is an irresistible combination I know you will love! They make the perfect pairing and look beautiful together on the plate.
