Pork Chops in the Air Fryer

One of my favorite dinners to make for my family is pork chops. But of course, if you have any distractions at all (and who doesn’t?), there’s a chance you might accidentally overcook the chops and have them dry out. I know I’ve had that happen more than once!

Air fryer pork chops are a total lifesaver and time-saver. They take under 20 minutes to make all told, and your only intervention, while they cook, will be to flip them halfway through. That’s it. These are the crispiest, best pork chops you will ever make!

Love it! ❤️ Going to make it again!

Pork Chop in the Air Fryer Tips

    • Try my favorite 10-Quart Air Fryer for this and other air fryer recipes.
    • You can use bone-in pork chops if you prefer. If using bone-in pork chops, especially if they are thicker than ½-inch, they will most likely need to cook for longer than boneless. Cook for about 12 minutes total – 6 minutes on one side, 6 minutes on the next.
    • Always check the internal temperature using a meat thermometer, especially if using thicker pork chops or pork chops cooked from frozen.
    • Let the pork chops rest for 5 minutes after cooking.
    • I always make extra leftover pork chops because I love leftovers!

How Long to Cook Pork Chops in the Air Fryer

Boneless Pork Chops: At 400°, cook for 5 minutes, then flip and cook another 4-6 minutes, until browned and crispy. Measure the internal temperature using a meat thermometer (it should reach 140°F).

Bone in Pork Chops: At 400°, cook for 6 minutes on one side, and 6 minutes on the next. You may need to cook it longer if thicker than ½ inch. Measure the internal temperature using a meat thermometer (it should reach 140°F).

Air Fryer Pork Chop Recipe Temps

Follow the below chart for air fryer pork temps. Make sure to use a meat thermometer for best results and measure your air fryer to know what size cuts will fit.

Pork CutPork Weight or ThicknessAir Fryer TemperatureInternal TemperatureCooking Time
Pork Chops (Boneless)½-inch thick400°F145°F5 minutes on one side, 4-6 minutes opposite side
Pork Chops (Bone-in)1-1.5 inches thick380°F145°F5-6 minutes on each side

Can you put frozen pork chops in an air fryer?

If you’re in a hurry, you can cook (thin, boneless) pork chops from frozen in the air fryer by first cooking them for 4 minutes at 380°F. This will defrost the chops (add another minute if necessary or if your chops are 1-inch thick. Thicker pork chops may require more time defrosting).

From there, you can coat them in the seasoning and breadcrumbs and follow the recipe as instructed, cooking another 5 minutes before flipping, then completing the cooking time at another 4-6 minutes. Make sure to measure the internal temperature with a meat thermometer and cook for longer if it is not 140°F.

The air fry method of preparing pork chops ensures the juiciest pork you will ever make. The heat from the air fryer will keep the outside crust crispy and the inside of the pork chops will turn out so juicy!

    Air Fryer Pork Chops FAQs

How do you know when pork chops are done in an air fryer?

After air frying the pork chops for at least 9 minutes total, check the internal temperature using a meat thermometer to tell if they are done cooking. The temperature should read 140°F. Once they reach this temperature, remove the pork chops from the air fryer and allow them to rest 5 minutes. The temperature will rise slightly as they rest.

Can you air fry pork chops with bone?

You can air fry bone-in pork chops, though thicker pork chops will take slightly longer to cook than thin boneless chops. Air fry thick bone-in pork chops for a total of 12 minutes, flipping halfway through.

Can you air-fry pork chops with flour?

You can air-fry pork chops with flour if you like. Pork chops dredged in flour, egg, and breadcrumbs work well in the air fryer just as panko pork chops do following the same instructions. Spray them liberally with olive oil spray so they do not stick to the tray.

Is there any way to adjust the time or temperature to half inch tederloins? My other half perfers thinner meat.

Hi Jill! Definitely, assuming you mean pork chops rather than tenderloin, this recipe by default is for half-inch thick boneless pork chops. If you’d like to cook thicker chops, you’ll need to add a bit more time, instead. For thicker, I would cook for 6 minutes on each side (but measure the internal temperature to be safe).

Hi Holly! You could definitely use regular bread crumbs instead. Panko is slightly crunchier, so it won’t be exactly the same, but it will certainly be delicious. Enjoy!
