Ham and Cheese Quiche
There is something so special about a rich and creamy ham quiche that I look forward to every year, especially around the holidays. It always comes out tasting like you spent hours in the kitchen when in reality it takes under an hour to make!
Ham and cheese quiche make an amazing breakfast, brunch, lunch, or even breakfast for dinner. It’s one of the easiest recipes for serving a hungry crowd in no time, so you’ll love it for holiday mornings or when you have family visiting.
Not to mention, it is super delicious. Everyone will ask for seconds! Any time I serve this ham cheese quiche, even as part of a breakfast spread, it’s the first to disappear from the table.
Ham Quiche Ingredients
- pie crust
- eggs
- heavy cream
- pepper
- salt
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- paprika
- shredded cheddar cheese
- shredded mozzarella cheese
- baby spinach
- chopped cooked ham
- honey mustard
- green onion
For cheese, I like to use cheddar and mozzarella, but feel free to mix things up if you’d like to try other cheeses. A ham and swiss quiche is always a winner, or you could try ham and gruyere.
How to Make Ham and Cheese Quiche
- Preheat the oven to 375℉. In a large bowl, carefully crack eggs and whisk well. Once eggs are smoothly whisked, add heavy cream, pepper, salt, garlic powder, onion powder and paprika.
- Mix well, then top with shredded cheddar, mozzarella cheese, and baby spinach. Combine well.
- In a separate bowl combine diced ham and honey mustard. Coat ham pieces in honey mustard.
- In a pie crust add your egg mixture and diced ham, spreading it out evenly.
- Sprinkle with additional shredded cheddar cheese (optional).
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the middle is not gooey. Garnish with green onions, serve immediately and enjoy!
Ham Quiche Recipes Variations
- Use any kind of cheese: I used a combination of cheddar and mozzarella cheese, but ham and Swiss quiche or ham and gruyere also make amazing combinations!
- Try another meat: Substitute the ham for crumbled sausage, chopped bacon, or cooked chorizo.
- Add more veggies: In addition to spinach, try adding mushrooms, caramelized onions, roasted peppers, or broccoli. The options are endless!
- Toss in fresh herbs: Add in chopped cilantro, parsley, basil or rosemary.
- Spice it up: If you can handle the heat, add a dash of red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper!
- Swap out the crust, or make it crustless: Use crescent rolls instead of a store-bought pie crust, or make it a crustless quiche.
The best part about easy quiche recipes like this one is how customizable they are. You can use up any leftovers you have in your fridge, or just play around with new combinations – it’s all up to you!
Quiche with Ham Recipe Tips
- Check on your quiche as it bakes, if the crust is browning too quickly, cover the outside ring of the crust with foil to prevent it from browning any further.
- Bake quiche on the bottom rack of your oven! This helps ensure your quiche will cook evenly.
- Allow your quiche to rest for a few minutes before cutting it into slices. This will give it time for the eggs to set, and each slice will keep its shape.
Make Ahead Ham and Cheese Quiche
You can make this quiche up to 3 months ahead of time by freezing it before baking.
- Prepare the quiche according to instructions right up until it should be baked.
- Instead of baking the quiche, cover it first with plastic wrap, then cover again with tightly wrapped foil. Make sure it is tightly sealed.
- Label with the date, and freeze for up to 3 months.
- When ready to bake, bake at 400℉ for 1 hour from frozen (do not thaw). The filling should be set and the crust should be golden-brown.
How to Store Leftover Quiche
- Refrigerator: Leftover ham and cheese quiche can be stored in an airtight container placed in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
- Freezer: Freeze any leftover ham quiche in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Before enjoying again, thaw quiche overnight in the refrigerator. Enjoy cold or warm up in the oven for a few minutes.
Ham Quiche Recipe FAQs
You can substitute milk for heavy cream in a ham and cheese quiche. Heavy cream adds additional rich creaminess to your quiche, but it will still taste great and bake well with milk.
Quiche with ham pairs best with cheddar, swiss, mozzarella, or gruyere. I recommend grating your own cheese instead of buying pre-shredded cheese from the grocery store, but either will work.
