Happy Sunday!
Oh, what a fun weekend we had! We welcomed three couples to our little piece of heaven here in Georgia, and I was so excited to show them everything we love about living in the mountains. These are Florida friends, so the change in season and this beautiful weather was a real treat for them.
I put together what I felt was the perfect itinerary for their trip. When they arrived, I had a welcome dinner waiting: Burrata and Prosciutto, along with my Pepperoni Pizza Dip for appetizers. Then, homemade meatballs with my signature meat sauce, and a big salad to go with it!
I know, I make this all the time, but there’s a reason. It’s the best make-ahead meal you can serve! No worries about timing, it doesn’t dry out, and most importantly, it never disappoints. Everyone raves about my meatballs and meat sauce every time I make them, and this time was no different! I love making extra to store in these handy reusable bags, perfect for keeping them fresh in the fridge or freezer.
Here’s a tip for you: if you want to elevate your pasta game, use Italian-made pasta. It’s a total game-changer. It tastes so much better than American-made pasta that your guests will ask you what your secret is!
The next morning, we kicked off the day with my favorite Sausage Breakfast Casserole. Everyone loved it! The guys went golfing after breakfast, and us gals had a little self-care session with some great under-eye patches, then enjoyed a walk around the neighborhood before heading off to one of my favorite places: Wolf Mountain Vineyards. We had a stunning lunch and wine pairing there; the beauty of this vineyard truly takes your breath away.
That evening, we met back at home and went to the Currahee Club for Happy Hour and dinner. Everyone enjoyed the view of Lake Hartwell from the club. I had an unforgettable sea bass that was so moist it melted in my mouth! I’m already thinking about how I can recreate it at home. If I can charm the chef into sharing the recipe, even better!
We were all so tired from a day of fun and laughter that we all went straight to bed, ready for another big day ahead. The next morning, I made my famous cheesy eggs with bacon and sausage, and of course, introduced everyone to Ron’s favorite—scrapple! It’s always fun to introduce friends to something new, and scrapple has become a must-try whenever we have visitors.
I love using my electric griddle for big breakfasts like this, it makes everything so much easier!
Then it was time for more winery visits! We started at Kaya Vineyards, where we sipped wine on the porch, enjoying live music and perfect weather. Later, we had dinner at Montaluce Vineyards—such a special place. I’m obsessed with the views there, and the meal was just as incredible as the scenery.
We finished our weekend relaxing around the fire pit, laughing and reminiscing. Of course, we couldn’t resist making s’mores, and these roasting skewers were just what we needed! I couldn’t imagine a better time with friends. Our Georgia house is doing exactly what we hoped for when we bought it—helping us create memories to last a lifetime!
How was your weekend? Tell me all about it!
