This past weekend was truly unforgettable as we celebrated Aiden’s 3rd birthday surrounded by family, laughter, and love. As an only child, seeing my children together, laughing and enjoying each other’s company, fills my heart in ways words can’t describe.
Our weekend kicked off on Friday with their favorite Italian wedding soup- perfect for the chilly Florida evening. Dinner was a classic: my Sunday sauce with spaghetti and meatballs, paired with a large salad. There’s nothing quite like sharing a meal that everyone loves to start the weekend on a joyful note. After dinner, we all cozied up on the couch and played a few games. Our favorite is always Telestrations. We've been playing it for years, and it never gets old!
Saturday was a day filled with adventure at Busch Gardens. Watching Aiden’s face light up on the carousel, hearing his belly laughs, and reminiscing about the countless trips we’ve made there as a family brought back so many precious memories. To ensure we had a warm, comforting meal waiting, I prepared our beloved slow cooker pulled pork overnight. Walking into a house filled with its inviting aroma after a full day of fun was pure magic. Some of the family enjoyed pulled pork nachos, quesadillas, and, of course, a sandwich!
Sunday was all about celebrating Aiden! The day began with Rory and Aiden helping Vo-Vo make Aiden’s special request: a strawberry cake. His one and only birthday request this year was that cake! He’s turning into such a little foodie, and I love it. Vo-Vo, of course, listened, and we made the perfect cake. The boys had a blast helping out and decorating it with the frosting, fresh strawberries, and sprinkles!
The dinosaur-themed birthday party was a roaring success, and seeing Aiden’s joy made every moment worthwhile. Aiden and Rory had a blast with the leftover balloons! They used their imagination and played so many games with the inflatable mini dinosaurs. Who knew balloons could be so much fun!
As if the weekend couldn’t get any better, it was also game day! Our family’s tradition of cheesesteak sliders, a good luck charm, added to the excitement as we cheered on the Eagles. Their win was the cherry on top of an already perfect weekend. GO BIRDS!
These moments around the family table remind me why I started the Sunday Supper Movement: to cherish time spent with loved ones and create memories that last a lifetime.
What are your favorite family traditions? Reply and share; I’d love to hear them!
