Shrimp Linguine
This is the easiest shrimp recipe I have ever made and my family absolutely adores it. You can make it with fresh shrimp or cooked shrimp and it turns out amazing every time. Sometimes I even make it with leftover shrimp cocktail!
Crisp white wine finishes the sauce and highlights the flavors of garlic, onion, and shrimp. Then, I add a bright lemony finish and wrap it all in deliciously satisfying linguine pasta.
We loved this recipe so much that we have added it to our weekly rotation. It is the perfect quick and delicious meal.

Linguine with Shrimp Tips
- We recommend a good quality wine like Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, or a Riesling for pairing and cooking with this recipe.
- Instead of wine, you can substitute chicken broth.
- You can top the linguine with Parmesan if you prefer.
- Elevate this dish by swapping out shrimp for prawns! Garlic butter prawns are delicious.
- Reserve 1 cup of pasta water to add to the sauce if a more creamy texture is desired.
Shrimp Linguine FAQs
Frozen shrimp can be used to make garlic shrimp scampi pasta. It saves you the time and effort of peeling and de-veining your own shrimp.
Instead of using wine, you can use the same amount of seafood or chicken stock.
Use a dry white wine, such as Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio.
This recipe lasts up to 3 days in the fridge stored in an airtight container.
You absolutely can use leftover cooked shrimp in this recipe. I have even used leftover cocktail shrimp in a pinch and it works.
How to Defrost Frozen Shrimp
- First, add the frozen shrimp to a bowl of cold water. Make sure the cold water fully covers the shrimp. Do not use warm water!
- Allow the shrimp to sit in the cold water for 10 to 15 minutes. If they need more time, drain the water after 10 minutes, add fresh cold water, and allow them to sit for an additional 10 to 15 minutes.
- Finally, dry the shrimp with paper towels before cooking.
If you want to elevate this dish even further, you could substitute prawns for shrimp. Prawn linguine is delicious, especially as prawn scampi.
