    What is a foil packet?

A foil packet is a cooking technique using aluminum foil. You easily create a packet or pouch for the ingredients you want. Then fold them up and cook either in the oven, on a grill, or even over an open fire.

Foil packets take the fuss out of cooking and the clean-up process afterward. This make them a great choice for your summer grilling recipes or campfire cooking.

Shrimp foil packets in the oven have become a favorite at our house for quick and easy weeknight meals!

    Shrimp Foil Pack Ingredients

For a shrimp foil packet, gather up the following ingredients:

    • 12 oz. precooked medium to large shrimp, thawed
    • 2 ears of corn on the cob
    • 1 pound medium-size red potatoes
    • 4 Tbsp. unsalted butter
    • 1 lemon, sliced
    • 2 Tbsp. Old Bay seasoning
    • 1 Tbsp. dried parsley
ingredients for a shrimp foil pack

How to Make Shrimp Foil Packets

    1. To assemble your shrimp foil packs, you’ll first need four long sheets of aluminum foil, approximately 24 inches long.
    2. Before assembling the packets, cut the red potatoes in half and place them into a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave the potatoes for about 10 minutes to soften just a bit.
    3. Cut the ears of corn into 1-inch sections. Then, slice the lemons into ¼ inch slices and remove any seeds.
    4. To assemble the foil packets, place 3 pieces of potato, 2 sections of corn, 1 lemon slice, and 6-8 shrimp into the center of one piece of foil. Season with ½ Tbsp. Old Bay seasoning, 1 Tbsp. butter, and dried parsley and begin to fold the foil packet. Continue this process until you have four shrimp foil packets assembled.
    5. Once you have your foil packets, place onto a preheated grill and cook over medium heat for 20-25 minutes or until the potatoes are soft and cooked through.
    6. Remove from grill and serve immediately.

    How to Fold Foil Packets

    assembling a shrimp foil packet
    1. Begin by folding the bottom half of the foil up until it covers half of the ingredients.
    2. Then, fold the top side down over the other half of the ingredients.
    3. Finally, fold in both of the sides until you have a nice foil packet.
    4. It’s okay to have a small opening at the top; this will allow room for steam to expand as it cooks.
