Air Fry Ham
Let me show you how to cook ham in the air fryer, and I bet you will want to make it this way every year! The crackling, crispy ends and juicy middle make this ham air fryer recipe irresistible. Best of all, it saves on oven space so you have plenty of room to roast up sides like creamed corn casserole or baked mac and cheese.
What really sets my recipe for air frying ham apart is the sriracha honey glaze. The two flavors blend together for a sweet-yet-spicy glaze that keeps the ham juicy and tasty. Let's get started - I'll show you how to air fry ham, offer serving suggestions, glaze variations, and expert tips, plus answer FAQ!
I will never cook ham any other way. This was the juiciest most delicious ham I have ever made!

Tools to Air Fry Ham
- An air fryer! This is the air fryer I use. Whichever air fryer model you have, make sure the ham you buy can fit in the air fryer without touching the burner before you purchase it.
- A silicone basting brush for glazing the ham. You could also use a soft spatula or a spoon.
- Aluminum foil for wrapping the ham.
- A mixing bowl for the glaze.
Ingredients for Air Frying Ham
- Ham: I recommend using boneless ham. Bone-in hams are larger and may not fit in your air fryer. Make sure whatever ham you're using fits in your air fryer without touching the burner before buying the ham.
- Sriracha Honey Glaze: I'm using a honey sriracha glaze for my air fryer ham, consisting of sriracha sauce, honey, butter, garlic powder, and green onions. However, you can substitute other glazes, so feel free to get creative. With any glaze, I always recommend adding green onions and butter for a rich flavor and pop of freshness.

Air Fryer Ham
Equipment
Ingredients
- 5 lb. ham - boneless, pre-cooked
- ⅓ cup honey
- 2 Tbsp. sriracha
- ½ stick butter - melted
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 2 green onions - sliced
Instructions
- Combine cup honey, sriracha, melted butter, garlic powder, and green onions in a bowl, and mix well.⅓ cup honey,2 Tbsp. sriracha,½ stick butter,1 tsp. garlic powder,2 green onions
- Score your ham by making shallow, even cuts across the top in one direction, and then again in the opposite direction. Lay it on top of a sheet of foil large enough to wrap around it entirely.5 lb. ham
- Brush on about ⅓ of your honey glaze using a spatula or silicone basting brush. Make sure not to use all of the glaze – you will need it again.
- Cover the ham entirely with the foil. Place in the air fryer and cook at 300°F for 20 minutes.
- Once 20 minutes is up, unwrap and brush on another ⅓ of your honey ham glaze. Wrap the ham in foil again, and cook for another 20 minutes.
- After the final 20 minutes is up, remove the foil. Brush the remaining glaze on top. Then, fold the top of the foil into an edge. Cook at 360°F, uncovered, for 5 minutes, to caramelize the outside. Slice, serve, and enjoy!
Notes
- Scoring allows the glaze to seep in as it cooks, creating an overall juicy and delicious dinner ham recipe.
- Cooking and glazing in intervals allows for a greater depth of flavor.

Air-fried ham is the perfect showstopper for Christmas, Easter, or Sunday Supper. Everyone at the table will come back for seconds. It is as popular as my air fryer turkey breast!
Ham in Air Fryer Detailed Instructions
Step 1: Combine honey, sriracha sauce, melted butter, garlic powder, and green onions in a small bowl, and mix well. Feel free to use any glaze you like, but if you have yet to try my sriracha honey glaze, I definitely recommend making it at least once. It's spicy, sweet, and tastes just wonderful with ham.Step 2: Score your ham by making shallow, even cut across the top in one direction, and then again in the opposite direction. This helps the glaze go through to the meat and will result in a juicier, tastier ham. Then, lay the ham on top of a sheet of foil large enough to wrap around the ham entirely. Brush on about ⅓ of your glaze using a spatula or silicone basting brush. Make sure not to use all of the glaze – you will need it again!
Step 3: Cover the ham entirely with the foil. Place the foil-wrapped ham in the air fryer and cook at 300°F (150°C) for 20 minutes.
Step 4: Once 20 minutes is up, unwrap the ham and brush on another ⅓ of your ham glaze. Wrap the ham in foil again, and cook for another 20 minutes. Your house should be smelling amazing by now!
Step 5: After the final 20 minutes is up, remove the foil from the ham. Brush the remaining glaze on top. Then, fold the top of the foil into an edge (to catch any drippings) without covering the ham. Cook at 360°F, uncovered, for 5 minutes, to caramelize the outside.
Step 6: Slice, serve, and enjoy! Applying the honey sriracha glaze three times during cooking keeps it moist and juicy and gives it a beautiful crispy skin.
Expert Tips
- Scoring the top allows the glaze to seep in as it cooks, creating an overall juicy and delicious dinner ham recipe.
- Cooking and glazing in intervals give it even more flavor as well as keeping it moist and juicy.
- Don't let the aluminum foil touch any of the heating elements of your air fryer! If it does, it is too large for your fryer. This is very important, as anything touching the heating element is a safety issue, so make sure to measure your ham before buying it.
- Alternatively, if your ham is too large for your air fryer, and you're using a boneless ham, you can cut the ham in half and air fry the ham halves separately.
How to Keep Ham from Drying Out After Air Frying
- When prepping the ham, be sure to score and glaze it. Wrap it in foil when cooking. Scoring the ham allows the glaze to sink down into the meat of the ham, which will result in a juicier, tastier ham. Foil traps moisture - sort of like steaming - so it's great for retaining juiciness in meat like ham.
- Don't glaze just once! Halfway through the full cook time of 40 minutes, take the ham out and unwrap it to brush more glaze on. Wrap it in foil again, then place it back in the air fryer for the rest of the cook time.
- The final few extra minutes without foil are to caramelize the skin, but add another bit of glaze here, too. The key to juicy ham is all in that glaze and in the use of foil.
What to Serve with Air Fryer Ham
How Much Ham Per Person
You will need about ½ lbs. per person if you are using a boneless ham.
Amount of People | Ham Weight |
---|---|
1-2 | 2-pound ham |
3-4 | 3-pound ham |
4-6 | 4 pound ham |
10-12 | 5-6 pound ham |
12-14+ | Two 4 pound hams cooked separately |
If you need to serve more people, I recommend air frying two smaller hams separately.
How Long to Cook Ham in the Air Fryer
Ham Weight | Cook time at 300°F |
---|---|
2 pounds | 25-30 minutes |
3 pounds | 35-40 minutes |
4 pounds | 40-45 minutes |
5 pounds | 45-50 minutes |
The internal temperature of precooked ham should reach at least 145°F. All air fryers are different, so your ham may need more or less time.
FAQ for Air Frying Ham
A 6 qt. air fryer will fit a 3-4 lb. boneless ham depending on the model. I use 5 lb. boneless ham in this recipe, and it is perfect for my favorite 10-Quart Air Fryer. You just need to make sure there is enough room for the heat to circulate! Take the size of your air fryer into account.
If you have a smaller air fryer, you may need to use a smaller ham.
Bone-in hams are generally too large to fit in the air fryer. Be sure to check if one will fit in your air fryer before purchasing it. I recommend always air frying boneless ham.
Leftover ham lasts 4 days in the refrigerator in an airtight container.
Fully cooked ham lasts 2 months in the freezer. You can freeze it by cutting it into slices, then add it to freezer bags and press out the air. Label with the freezing date and store until ready to use.
Glazes for Air Fryer Ham
You can use other glazes to air-fry ham if you wish. Here are some of my favorites. I love playing around with ham flavors!
- Bourbon Glaze
- Pineapple Glaze
- Honey Glaze for Ham
- The brown sugar glaze with maple syrup from my Instant Pot Ham recipe is a great choice, too!
Heating Ham Slices in the Air Fryer
To heat leftover ham slices in the air fryer, follow these steps:
- Preheat your air fryer to 360°F.
- Place leftover ham slices in a baking dish that will fit your air fryer basket. Cover with additional glaze, ⅓ cup water, or ⅓ cup ham stock. This liquid element helps keep the leftovers from drying out.
- Cook for 4 minutes, then flip and cook for another 4 minutes.
My easy air fryer ham recipe is one of my favorite hams to make, hands down. I know you're going to love it! The sticky, spicy-sweet glaze is totally irresistible, and the ham is just so juicy. Let me know what you think with a comment and rating!
