Air Fry Ham
Once you try air frying ham, I guarantee you won’t want to go back. It is so easy to prepare, and the air fryer gives it a gorgeous crust! I love preparing ham every year, and of all the ham recipes I’ve tried, this is the crispiest, juiciest one.
The crackling crispy ends and juicy middle make this recipe so amazing. The best part is, it saves space in the oven so you have room to make all your holiday side dishes while the ham cooks in the air fryer!
What really takes this recipe over the top is the sriracha honey glaze. Sriracha and honey blend together for a sweet glaze with a spicy kick. The ingredients are so simple, but come together to make an amazingly tasty glaze that also keeps the ham moist!
I will never cook ham any other way. This was the juiciest most delicious ham I have ever made!

How to Cook Ham in Air Fryer
- Combine honey, sriracha sauce, melted butter, garlic powder, and green onions in a bowl and mix well.
- Score your ham by making shallow, even cut across the top in one direction, and then again in the opposite direction.
- Lay on top of a sheet of foil large enough to wrap around it entirely. Brush on about ⅓ of your honey glaze using a spatula or silicone basting brush. Make sure not to use all of the glazes – you will need it again.
- Cover entirely with foil. Place in the air fryer and cook at 300°F for 20 minutes.
- Once 20 minutes is up, unwrap and brush on another â…“ of your honey ham glaze. Wrap the ham in foil again, and cook for another 20 minutes.
- After the final 20 minutes is up, remove the foil. Brush the remaining glaze on top. Then, fold the top of the foil into an edge. Cook at 360°F, uncovered, for 5 minutes, to caramelize the outside. Slice, serve, and enjoy!
- Applying the honey sriracha glaze three times during cooking keeps it moist and juicy and gives it a beautiful crispy skin.
Air Fryer Ham is the perfect showstopper for Christmas or Easter and even for Sunday Supper! Everyone at the table will come back for seconds.
Ham in Air Fryer Tips
- Scoring the top allows the glaze to seep in as it cooks, creating an overall juicy and delicious dinner ham recipe.
- Cooking and glazing in intervals give it even more flavor as well as keeping it moist and juicy.
- Don’t let the aluminum foil touch any of the heating elements of your air fryer! If it does, it is too large for your fryer.
- Make sure to pick a ham that fits in your air fryer basket. If yours is too large, cut it in half and cook both halves separately.
How to Keep Ham from Drying Out
- Score and glaze the ham, then wrap it completely in foil and cook it for 20 minutes.
- Remove and unwrap it and brush on more glaze. Re-wrap it, then place it in the air fryer to cook for another 20 minutes.
- Finally, the last bit of glaze is brushed on and it’s cooked without foil for just a few extra minutes to caramelize the skin.
How Much Ham Per Person
You will need about ½ lbs. per person if you are using a boneless ham.
Amount of People | Ham Weight |
---|---|
1-2 | 2-pound ham |
3-4 | 3-pound ham |
4-6 | 4 pound ham |
10-12 | 5-6 pound ham |
12-14+ | Two 4 pound hams cooked separately |
If you need to serve more people, we recommend cooking 2 smaller ones separately if using the air fryer.
How Long to Cook Ham in Air Fryer
Ham Weight | Cook time at 300°F |
---|---|
2 pounds | 25-30 minutes |
3 pounds | 35-40 minutes |
4 pounds | 40-45 minutes |
5 pounds | 45-50 minutes |
The internal temperature of precooked ham should reach at least 145°F. All air fryers are different, so your ham may need more or less time.
Air Fryer Ham Recipes FAQs
A 6 qt. air fryer will fit a 3-4 lb. boneless ham depending on the model. I use 5 lb. boneless ham in this recipe, and it is perfect for my favorite 10-Quart Air Fryer. You just need to make sure there is enough room for the heat to circulate! Take the size of your air fryer into account.
If you have a smaller air fryer, you may need to use a smaller ham.
Leftover ham lasts 4Â days in the refrigerator in an airtight container.
Fully cooked ham lasts 2 months in the freezer. You can freeze it by cutting it into slices, then add it to freezer bags and press out the air. Label with the freezing date and store until ready to use.
Can I use a bone-in ham?
Bone-in hams are generally too large to fit in an air fryer. Use a boneless ham, and if yours is too large, cut it in half to fit the basket.
Can I use other glazes?
You can use other glazes for air frying ham if you wish. The brown sugar glaze with maple syrup from my Instant Pot Ham recipe is a great choice.
Or, you could use the pineapple juice glaze used in my Pineapple Ham Recipe. It uses ground cinnamon and cloves for incredible flavor!
Can you heat up ham slices in the air fryer?
To heat up leftover ham slices in the air fryer, follow these steps:
- Preheat your air fryer to 360°F.
- Place leftover ham slices in a baking dish that will fit your air fryer basket. Cover with additional glaze, â…“ cup water, or â…“ cup ham stock. This liquid element helps keep the leftovers from drying out.
- Cook for 4 minutes, then flip and cook for another 4 minutes.
What to Make with Leftover Ham
Use the leftovers, including the ham bone, to make one of my amazing Leftover Ham Recipes, like Ham Steak or 15 Bean Soup.
