White Chocolate Mocha Starbucks Recipe
When the weather is chilly, nothing beats warming your hands with a cozy mug of something delicious. When my kids were growing up and it got chilly out, I loved surprising them with cups of hot chocolate, but for myself, there’s nothing I love more than a good cup of coffee.
I wish I’d had my copycat Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha Recipe then! It’s creamy, sweet, and super easy to make at home in less than 10 minutes using simple ingredients. Personally, I love it as a hot drink, but you can also serve it iced!
With each sip, the rich and creamy flavors of white chocolate and espresso blend perfectly. You don’t have to wait in line and put a dent in your budget going out to buy coffee; you can create the perfect easy white chocolate latte in your own kitchen!
Grab your mug and let’s make your new favorite sweet treat together. I know you’ll love it!
White Chocolate Mocha Ingredients
- White Chocolate Sauce: Look for Torani brand white chocolate sauce. This syrup has the best flavor for making a white chocolate mocha, and it will last you a while, too!
- Espresso: If you don’t have an espresso maker, you can make espresso using instant espresso, such as Cafe Bustelo espresso instant coffee. All you have to do is mix it with hot water or milk, so it’s a great substitute. I don’t recommend using coffee other than espresso unless you have no other options, as the flavor is not as strong.
- Milk: Whole milk or 2% works best for this recipe. If you need to use a dairy-free substitute, I would recommend oat or almond milk rather than soy.
- Heavy Cream: This adds richness and balances out the strong flavors of the white chocolate sauce and coffee very well. If you need yours to be a dairy-free mocha, simply leave it out.
- Whipped Cream: I love making my own homemade whipped cream to use for this recipe.
- (Optional) White Chocolate Shavings: I love to shave some white chocolate over top the drink at the end. It makes it extra fun and tasty!
How to Make Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha
- Add milk to a microwave-safe cup and microwave for about 30 seconds to heat the milk. While it’s heating up, add white chocolate sauce and heavy cream to a separate cup.
- Pour in a shot of espresso and then add the steamed milk over top.
- Use a spoon to stir everything in the cup very well. Top with whipped cream, white chocolate shavings (optional), and cinnamon for garnish (optional). Enjoy your homemade white chocolate mocha!
Iced White Chocolate Mocha
Make it a cool, refreshing drink! Iced White Chocolate Mochas are equally as easy to make at home. The ingredients are exactly the same, just toss in some ice at the end and sip away on your homemade iced mocha.
TIP: If you’re afraid of it getting watered down, you can freeze some coffee in an ice cube tray and use coffee ice cubes instead.
White Chocolate Mocha Recipe Tips
- Milk Choices: Experiment with different types of milk (whole, 2%, skim milk, or a dairy-free milk option like almond milk, coconut milk, or oat milk) to find your preferred creaminess!
- Sweetness: Adjust the amount of white chocolate sauce to suit your taste. Start with a little and add more as needed.
- Garnish: Top with whipped cream, white chocolate chips or shavings, cinnamon, or even a drizzle of caramel for an extra special touch.
- Customize Your Cup: Feel free to add a dash of vanilla extract, a sprinkle of cocoa powder, or even a peppermint stick during the holidays for a festive twist.
- Practice: Don’t be afraid to experiment with the ratio of coffee to milk to chocolate. Adjust and find your perfect balance of flavors!
Hot White Chocolate Mocha FAQs
Yes, if you don’t have an espresso maker you can make it with a strong coffee as an alternative to espresso, or use instant espresso powder dissolved in a small amount of hot water.
You can use white chocolate syrup in place of white chocolate mocha sauce in your drink. The syrup will be thinner and sweeter, so you might want to adjust the quantity to suit your taste preference.
