Tips for Air Frying Egg Rolls
- If you’d like to add a different protein to this egg roll recipe, it must be cooked before being placed inside the egg roll wrapper. Some other protein ideas: chicken, beef, sausage, shrimp, tofu, or veggie egg rolls!
- In most grocery stores, egg roll wrappers are in the produce section near bottled salad dressings and sauces.
- Ensure not to overcrowd your air fryer; the air can circulate the egg rolls and cook them perfectly. Cook them in batches if needed! I love my 10-Quart Air Fryer for this recipe.

It’s amazing what you can cook with an air fryer! I love mine and highly recommend it. It even has a steaming function to re-hydrate stale bread!

FAQ for Homemade Egg Rolls in the Air Fryer
You can pre-roll your egg rolls and store them in the refrigerator for up to 12 hours ahead of time. For best results, I recommend placing them in an airtight container with a damp rag over them to prevent them from becoming soggy. When ready to serve the next day, fry them up according to the recipe instructions. While you’re at it, try my Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls!
Cooking egg rolls in the air fryer is easy, less messy, and more wholesome as they use much less oil. Aside from flipping the egg rolls halfway through, you can set them and forget them without hassle. Plus, air-fried egg rolls take only 8 minutes to cook.
Cook your egg rolls for 8 minutes at 380°F, flipping halfway through. They should be nicely crisp and golden-brown once cooked.
If you do not want to cook your egg rolls right away, you can place uncooked egg rolls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and place in the freezer. Transfer to an airtight container, and store for up to 1-2 months.
For reheating frozen egg rolls, I do not recommend thawing before. You will just need to add a few extra minutes to the cooking time. Start with 12 minutes and increase the time if you find it necessary.
Preheat your air fryer to 350°F. Spray your leftover egg rolls with olive oil spray on both sides (or brush them lightly with oil), and air fry for 5 minutes, flipping halfway through.

Can you assemble all of the egg rolls ahead of time and then air fry them about 2-3 hours later? Trying to save time while traveling for Christmas.
Thanks
Stephanie says
Sorry, I just looked through your post better and found the answer. My apologies.
Em Beitel says
It’s no trouble, Stephanie! We hope you enjoy them! Safe travels and have a great holiday!
Brandee Goode says
Can you freeze them for later?
Isabel Laessig says
Hi Brandee! To freeze these egg rolls, cook them first, and allow them to cool. Then, wrap them tightly and store for up to 4 months labeled with the date. You can reheat them straight out of the freezer by preheating the air fryer to 380°F for 5 minutes, then air frying at the same temp for 12-15 minutes until they’re crispy and heated through. Enjoy!
Mar says
Hello!
For freezing, do you recommend raw or cooked?
Thank you 🙂
Em Beitel says
Hi Mar! I would recommend cooking them first. Let them cool, then wrap them tightly and store them for up to 4 months or so. You can heat them straight out of the freezer, too. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F for 5 minutes, then air fry at the same temp for 12-15 minutes until crispy and heated through. Enjoy!
