Happy Sunday!
I love this time of year. Being up in the Georgia mountains surrounded by so much beauty makes it extra special. I am beside myself with excitement! Alex, Shay and the boys are on their way up to spend a couple of special days with us. I want our time together to be magical. We are planning on lots of fires around the firepit.
Oh, and you can’t forget about all of the s’mores we’ll be roasting! These marshmallow roasting sticks make it so easy (and fun) for everyone to join in. A special visit for the boys means visiting Santa and the Grinch and lots of time in the hot tub! I can’t wait to share our special time with all of you next week.
The holidays are just around the corner, and I am already planning easy dishes that bring everyone together. This year, I will host Christmas Eve with my parents, Ronnie and Julia, and Reis and Jordin. Then, Ron and I will be heading out very early Christmas morning to spend Christmas Day with Alex, Shamus, Rory, and Aiden.
This will be the first year without Riley at Christmas; I am sad but happy he is pursuing his dreams in the golf industry. Reis and Jordin are bringing their famous mac and cheese to our holiday table this year. I am so excited to try it and love that I have raised a foodie.
I am filled with excitement to celebrate these special moments with my family, creating cherished memories filled with love, laughter, and, of course, incredible food.
To keep in line with my love for low-key holiday menus without stress, I’m keeping things simple this year.
My Holiday Menu
- Slow-Roasted Prime Rib: A show-stopping centerpiece that’s tender, juicy, and full of flavor.
- Honey-Glazed Carrots and Brussels Sprouts: A festive side dish that pairs perfectly with any main course.
- Creamy Mashed Potatoes: Smooth, buttery, and a must-have on any holiday table.
- Strawberry Cheesecake: A sweet and delightful way to end your holiday feast.
I am also contemplating adding some seafood to the menu. What do you think I should add? I always love your suggestions!
Sunday Supper Tip: I love prepping parts of my menu beforehand. The mashed potatoes and vegetables can be made the day before and reheated, saving time without compromising flavor.
As we approach the holidays, let’s take a moment to reflect on what truly matters: the joy of gathering together, the laughter shared, and the traditions we create with those we love.
Every dish we prepare is an opportunity to create lasting memories, especially when surrounded by family, including my kids and grandkids, who make this season so special.
Your friend,
Isabel
A lovely Sunday dinner
