Happy Sunday, friends!
It’s hard to believe I turned 58 this year. Honestly, in my mind, I still feel like I’m somewhere in my 40s — but truth be told, I wouldn’t go back. I have loved every bit of my 50s, and I’m embracing this beautiful chapter for all it’s worth.
If there’s one thing these 58 years have taught me, it’s this: Family is everything. I mean everything. I’m so proud of my kids and hope they see me as the mom who will stand beside them through anything. No matter what path they choose, my job is to support them, make them feel seen, and love them through it all.
This birthday felt extra special because I got to spend it at Alex and Shamus’s house with Rory and Aiden. Any time with them is magical — the kind of magic that fills your heart to the brim. When we came home, we celebrated with Ronnie and Julia, Reis and Jordin, and my parents before heading out to California. It was the perfect birthday week.
Another lesson? Be kind to my body. Over the past 18 months, I’ve been making mindful choices and have lost weight, but I’ve also learned that balance is key. Yes, I want to be healthy — but I also want to enjoy that glass of wine, that special dessert, that evening of laughter around the table. Every wrinkle tells the story of a phase of life I’ve walked through, and this body of mine has carried me through so much. Skinny isn’t the goal. Living is.
I’m actually writing this to you from California, where we’ve continued the celebrations. Ron came out here for the 10-year anniversary of his amazing company, Casual Precision. The founders are remarkable, and their support during Ron’s illness last year meant the world to me. We celebrated with a night out on a yacht, filled with laughter and connection — a rare treat since everyone works from different corners of the country.
We took a few extra days to slip away to Laguna Beach, and oh, what a gem! We stayed at The Ranch at Laguna Beach, and I fell in love with Harvest, their restaurant. They have their own farm on the property, and the vegetables are incredible — fresh, vibrant, and grown with care. Truly my kind of place.
So here’s to 58… to family, to balance, to embracing this season with open arms. And to you — thank you for being here, for celebrating with me, and for letting me share my life with you. My hope is that in some way, my words inspire you to gather your own family around the table and celebrate all the beautiful little moments.
With love and gratitude,
Isabel

🔪 Prep Plan:
On your prep day, cook your big batch of grilled pork butt! Once cooked and cooled, shred the pork and portion it out for Monday’s pulled pork poutine, Tuesday’s quesadillas, and Wednesday’s rice bowls. Store each portion in an airtight container in the fridge.
While the pork is cooking, prep your meatball mix! Form and stuff your mozzarella meatballs, then either cook them now or store them in the fridge for Thursday’s stuffed meatballs and Friday’s meatball subs.
