Air Fried Carrots
I love carrots. Plain, in stews, or sliced up in salads: there are so many delicious ways to serve this versatile vegetable. So, when I learned that most of my friends and loved ones didn’t like carrots, I knew it was time to change their minds.
And the best way to do that? Roasted carrots, and it’s never been easier to roast carrots than in the air fryer! Air fryer roasted carrots are tender and easy to eat, but still loaded with sweet, caramelized flavor and the perfect amount of crisp chew.
This easy air fryer recipe has converted my whole family into carrot lovers!
Air frying carrots truly is a game changer. No more messing with pans and oven temperatures; it’s easy, mess-free and so, so simple. Try making my carrots in the air fryer, and you’ll see what I mean!
Carrots in Air Fryer Ingredients
- Carrots
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Pepper
A blend of salt, pepper, and olive oil will yield simple, savory carrots. But, you can use whatever spices you like best with carrots, whether you like them sweet or flavored with herbs like dried oregano, rosemary, and basil!
For an extra pinch of flavor, add a sprinkle of garlic powder.
How to Air Fry Carrots
- Wash the carrots well, and cut off the tips and tops.
- If desired, peel the carrots, then slice them into sticks of the desired thickness.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the carrot sticks, salt, pepper, and olive oil, and toss to coat.
- Spread the carrots out in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket; if your carrots won’t all fit, air fry them in batches.
- Cook at 400°F for 12 minutes, and turn the carrots or shake the basket halfway through the cook time. Adjust the cooking time accordingly for thinner carrot slices. Remove from the air fryer, serve, and enjoy!
Roast Carrots Air Fryer Tips
- I like my carrots to still be a little firm in the middle, so this recipe will cook them to be cooked but still a little crunchy. If you like super soft carrots, try changing the cook time to 18 minutes!
- Salt and pepper are base seasonings, but feel free to add any more you desire! Try adding garlic and parmesan or a dash of maple syrup and brown sugar for some delicious twists.
- You can absolutely skip peeling the carrots! I love the rustic look and additional touch of chew that the skin adds. Just make sure to scrub the carrots extra well if you leave the skin on.
- To make this recipe even easier, use baby carrots! Just keep an eye on the smaller pieces so they don’t burn. The smaller the carrots, the more quickly they cook.
Isabel’s Air Fryer
It’s amazing what you can cook with an air fryer! I love mine and highly recommend it. It even has a steaming function to re-hydrate stale bread!

Air Frying Carrots FAQ
There’s no one true way to cook carrots, as any cooking method has its merits. Steaming carrots will produce a uniformly cooked carrot with an unaltered carrot flavor. Roasting them cooks the outside and bottom of the carrot more, resulting in a crispier skin and more caramelized flavor.
If you’re not a fan of the flavor of carrots, I highly recommend air frying them! Roasted carrots sweeten up and become more mild, with a caramelized flavor. You can add sauces to them to make them even more appetizing! I love adding a bit of bleu cheese dressing but all of your favorite sauces and dressings will taste great.
