- Lemon Juice: Use fresh lemon juice, not bottled. It makes a huge difference in flavor.
- Worcestershire Sauce: The taste of Worcestershire sauce perfectly balances out the other savory flavors in blue cheese dressing!
- Salt and Pepper: Kosher salt or sea salt flakes are what I recommend using. Freshly cracked black pepper is best.
- Blue Cheese Crumbles: What I love best about making homemade blue cheese dressing is choosing what blue cheese I'm putting into the dressing. You can get those big chunks of blue cheese that are so good, especially for dipping!
- Fresh Chives: Optional, but I love the flavor chives adds to blue cheese dressing. If you can try it, definitely do!
How to Make Blue Cheese Dressing
- In a small bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and a generous pinch of salt and pepper. Stir all of these ingredients until smooth using a small whisk or a fork.
- Add blue cheese crumbles to the dressing and stir to combine. Mince fresh chives and fold them into the dressing.
- Once all the ingredients are combined, the dressing is finished! Feel free to use it right away, or store it in the fridge for a few hours before use (this will help the flavors develop a little bit).
