Happy Sunday! One dinner my family always loves enjoying together is my Dutch Oven Roast. This easy pot roast recipe is flavorful, filling, and will keep you warm and happy! I love serving it with a side of creamy mashed potatoes and my homemade stovetop beef gravy (this one’s new on the site; check it out!). It’s a classic dinner everyone loves.
Dutch Oven Pot Roast
After one of the busiest periods of my life, it feels so good to return to my happy place, the Georgia mountains. Something happens to me when I return here; this place is genuinely so peaceful and relaxing, I can feel my worries melting away as soon as I arrive.
Ron and I work every day when we’re here, but I don’t feel like we’re working because we’re surrounded by so much beauty. This place has been the biggest surprise to us! And to think, it all started four years ago when we decided to explore Georgia. The first time I sat on the back porch of the inn, I could see us here. Somehow, we manifested this life.
We decided to start exploring the area outside of our neighborhood, so on Sunday, we rode to Clemson, GA. It’s so beautiful there! While we were there, we stopped at a cute little place where we could dine outside on Lake Hartwell. Ron’s meal was superb. He had chicken and waffles and, typical of the South, it was some of the best fried chicken either of us have ever had. It was so incredibly juicy! (Yes, I stole a bite or two!)
I ordered a steak salad with goat cheese, and was looking forward to a delicious, juicy steak on top of a gorgeous salad. My salad was crisp and tasty, and the goat cheese was locally sourced and incredible. I’ll be looking into how I can buy some of that cheese myself! But womp, womp, womp… the steak was one of the worst steaks I have ever had. It looked beautiful, but it was so chewy and had very little taste.
If you haven’t guessed, my number one restaurant rule is to never order steak at a restaurant. I’m not sure why I broke it! Ron grills the best steaks, and nothing from a restaurant can ever compare. Why, oh why, did I break my rule?! Have you ever had an experience like this happen to you? It’s always so disappointing.
It does give me an opportunity to share with you my absolute favorite steak recipes, though, and I’m glad to do so! I don’t want any of you to have an experience like I did. These steaks are some of our family favorites, so please try them!
- You can’t beat a Porterhouse steak grilled to perfection. This is the perfect steak for a special occasion or when you want to splurge on a loved one.
- This budget-friendly steak is a keeper for sure: Grilled Chuck Steak, if prepared properly, is nothing but amazing. You won’t believe it’s a chuck steak!
- There is nothing like a perfectly grilled New York Steak!
- Remember the leftovers! This Steak Alfredo is my go-to the next day. You won’t believe it’s leftovers!
I hope everyone is as excited as I am for grilling season! When you live in Florida, it’s grilling season all year long!
Oh- I almost forgot! I went to a flower farm. It was my first time visiting a flower farm, and it was so cute! They just built a little shop and opened it to the public. I loved chatting with the owner and hearing about their products, and wound up leaving with homemade soap, a little locally-made dish that is perfect for our recipe videos, and, of course, beautiful flowers.
The flowers have brought me so much joy every day! I filled several vases and am enjoying them throughout our home. It truly is the little things in life that seem to bring us the most joy!
May your Sunday be blessed with love, beautiful things, and maybe even a steak dinner!
