How to Peel Apples
You can use a vegetable peeler or a knife to peel apples for using in this recipe. However, do not peel your apples all of the way. Leave a bit of skin on.
- Hold the apple in one hand. Use a vegetable peeler (one with a swivel blade works best) or a knife to peel the skin away from the apple.
- Leave some of the skin on. Do not peel them all of the way.
How to Cut Apples
You don’t have to be precise when cutting apples for Instant Pot apple crisp, but the apple chunks should all be around the same size so they cook evenly.
- Slice each side away from the core by cutting about ¼th of an inch away from the stem on each side.
- Dice each quarter into thick, even chunks.
🔪 Instructions
- Add sliced apples to your Instant Pot along with cinnamon, vanilla extract, brown sugar, lemon juice, and water. Make sure the apples are submerged.
- Stir together, then place the lid on your pressure cooker. Set the time for 0 to 1 minute. 1 minute will give you softer apples.
- While your pressure cooker comes to pressure, mix old fashioned oats, cinnamon, melted butter, flour, and brown sugar together in a bowl.
- Carefully quick release the pressure from your Instant Pot. Drain most of the liquid, but leave a little left at the bottom of the pot.
- Add the crumble topping to the pot and set to “Keep Warm” mode. Place the lid back on and allow the apple crisp to thicken up for 3-5 minutes. Once thick, turn off your Instant Pot and serve. Enjoy!

Serve our Instant Pot Apple Crisp recipe warm, with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream. French vanilla or cinnamon ice cream are our favorite choices for this dessert!
To take it over the top, add some butterscotch sauce or salted caramel sauce. But, our favorite is to just use the juice from the apples at the bottom of the pot. Pour it over ice cream, and it’s just heavenly.

Store in the refrigerator on a plate with a paper towel over top to absorb any excess moisture.
Reheat using the “Keep Warm” mode of your Instant Pot, in the microwave, or in the oven for 5-8 minutes at 300°F.
