Happy Sunday!
As the air begins to cool and the leaves hint at turning, I can’t help but feel the excitement of the fall season settling in. There’s something about this time of year — the crisp mornings, cozy evenings, and comforting meals simmering on the stove, that reminds me why I started Sunday Supper all those years ago.
This season, we have so much to celebrate as a family! Our son, Reis, is turning 26, and I couldn’t be more proud of the man he has become. It feels like just yesterday he was that little boy running around the kitchen, and now he’s building a beautiful life of his own.

Ron and I are also marking a special milestone this fall — our 34th wedding anniversary. Looking back on more than three decades together, I’m reminded that while life hasn’t always been easy, love and family have been our constant. Our marriage has been filled with laughter, challenges, shared meals, and countless Sunday Suppers. It is truly the heart of our story.

Before we get too far into fall, we’re looking forward to a houseful of family and friends this Labor Day weekend. I can’t think of a better way to say goodbye to summer than with a table full of food, laughter echoing through the house, and long afternoons spent together.
Some of our favorite Labor Day recipes always make it to the table:
- Cheesesteak Sliders – easy to make ahead and always a crowd-pleaser.
- Baby Back Ribs - the juiciest, most fall-apart tender pork rib recipe.
- Mexican Street Corn Dip – light, refreshing, and perfect for the season.
- Grilled Shrimp - my favorite way to serve shrimp, and probably the easiest, too.
- Lamb Chops - you will savor every bite!
- Juicy Chicken Breasts - tender and delicious every time!
- Grilled Steaks & Burgers – simply prepared and shared outside.
- Portobello Mushrooms - It's a vegetarian's BBQ dream!
- Strawberry Dump Cake – the sweetest way to savor the last of summer fruit.
- Red, White, and Blue Popsicles - new family favorite, I guarantee.
As we head into fall, I hope you’ll join me in leaning into the cozy comfort of family traditions. Whether it’s making your favorite soup, gathering for Sunday dinner, or just taking a walk to enjoy the changing colors, this is the season to celebrate togetherness.
From my family to yours, here’s to new seasons, special milestones, and all the little moments around the table that mean the most.
With love and gratitude,
Isabel

This week's meal plan...
- Sunday: Flank Steak
- Monday: Ropa Vieja
- Tuesday: Beef and Broccoli
- Wednesday: Mongolian Beef
- Thursday: Garlic Butter Steak Bites
- Friday: Grilled Tuna Steak
- Saturday: Apple Tuna Salad
🔪 Prep Plan:
On your prep day, cook your big batch of flank steak! Once cooked and cooled, slice and portion it out for Monday’s Ropa Vieja, Tuesday’s Beef and Broccoli, and Wednesday’s Mongolian Beef. Store each portion in an airtight container in the fridge.
While the steak is cooking, prep extra ingredients!
- Chop broccoli, onions, and peppers for easy stir-fries.
- Make a batch of garlic butter ahead to use for Thursday’s Garlic Butter Steak Bites.
Prep your tuna! Marinate tuna steaks so they’re ready to grill on Friday. You can also cook extra to chill for Saturday’s Apple Tuna Salad.
Want to get ahead?
- Cook a pot of white rice to use for Tuesday’s Beef and Broccoli and Wednesday’s Mongolian Beef.
- Slice apples and prep any mix-ins (like celery, onion, or nuts) for Saturday’s tuna salad.
