Pork Tenderloin in the Instant Pot
One of my favorite dishes to serve for special occasions like birthdays or the holidays is pork tenderloin. It makes the best dinner party meal: you can often find it discounted, it’s versatile and easy to prepare, and the flavor is incredible!
Best of all is this pork tenderloin pressure cooker recipe. The Instant Pot makes pork tenderloin as easy as quickly searing the pork, then cooking it at high pressure. You really won’t need to do much else (just make sure you have a meat thermometer!).
Once you try making pork tenderloin in the Instant Pot, I guarantee you will want to make it this way all the time. It is just too easy!
How Long to Cook Pork Tenderloin in Instant Pot
Sear pork tenderloin for 1-2 minutes on each side, then cook it for approximately 5 minutes on High pressure in the Instant Pot. If the temperature hasn’t reached 145°F, but it’s close, add it back to the pot and close the lid to let it warm through for a while longer until it reaches temperature.

Instant Pot Gravy for Pork Tenderloin
- Add the minced garlic to the Instant Pot and saute until fragrant. Then add in the broth, scraping the bottom to get the little burned bits.
- In a small bowl add the cold water and cornstarch to make a “slurry.” Once dissolved add the cornstarch slurry to the broth mixture. Whisk to combine.
- Saute for 1-2 minutes until it starts to thicken. Transfer the gravy to a small bowl.
Cooking Pork Tenderloin in Instant Pot
- Turn off saute mode and rinse out the inner liner. Add a cup of water to the pot.
- Add a Trivet inside the instant pot and place pork on the trivet.
- Cook on high pressure for 5 minutes. Once the timer goes off, do a quick pressure release. Check the internal temperature using a meat thermometer to ensure it’s at least 145°F.
- Remove pork tenderloin from the instant pot and let rest for 5 minutes before cutting into it. Warm up the gravy and serve. Enjoy!
Pork Tenderloin Instant Pot Recipe Tips
- You can prepare the gravy after cooking the pork tenderloin if you like, but by preparing it after searing and before cooking on high pressure, you ensure all the browned bits from searing the pork are mixed into the gravy, giving it more flavor.
- Always use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of pork.
- You can season tenderloin however you like – you can use more than just garlic powder, pepper, and salt, if you want! Try more herbs, like rosemary and thyme.
- Let the pork rest after cooking, about 5-10 minutes before slicing.
What is pork tenderloin?
Pork tenderloin is a boneless, narrow cut of meat from the muscle along the backbone. It is an extra lean cut of meat that is very tender when properly cooked.
Although the two terms are sometimes incorrectly used interchangeably, pork loin and pork tenderloin are two different cuts of meat.
Temp for Pork Tenderloin
Pork tenderloin should reach 145°F when read by a meat thermometer. It will be completely cooked at 145°F while being at its most tender.
Instant Pot Pork Tenderloin Recipes FAQs
The amount of time it takes to cook pork in the Instant Pot depends on the cut of pork. Pork loin and pork shoulder take about 15 minutes per pound, while a 1 pound pork tenderloin will only take 5 minutes on High pressure to cook. For a 2 pound pork tenderloin, use Natural Release to release the pressure for 10 minutes so it cooks a bit longer.
It is possible to overcook pork in the Instant Pot. It will become tough if overcooked. To avoid overcooking the pork, no matter what cut you’re using, make sure to use a meat thermometer to measure the internal temperature and to follow the recipe instructions closely for time.
