Best Pulled Pork Poutine
After trying poutine just once at a local restaurant, I knew I had to try making it at home for my family. It was a hit around the table, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it! Naturally I tried classic poutine first, but then I thought… what if I use pulled pork?
Ask any one of my friends or family and they will tell you my pulled pork is the best around. Combining my classic Pulled Pork Recipe with poutine seemed like the link to making the perfect poutine recipe, and I was right!
Pulled pork poutine is my family’s favorite way to eat poutine now. The combination of tangy, smoky pulled pork with cheese curds, gravy, and crispy fries is completely irresistible.
The best part is, it’s easy to make using leftover pulled pork, so I can add it to my meal plan for the week with my other pulled pork recipes. I guarantee you’ll love it, too!
Poutine Recipes FAQs
If you’re not familiar with poutine, it’s originally a Canadian dish (specifically Quebec) from the late 1950s, consisting of french fries, cheese curds, and gravy. With how irresistible the combination is, it spread to the rest of Canada and now internationally.
Traditionally, poutine only uses cheese curds, gravy, and french fries, but it’s easy to find variations using meats, like roast beef and, in the case of this recipe, pulled pork. Pulled pork poutine is simply traditional poutine with pulled pork added.
You can make poutine without cheese curds by using torn chunks from a full-fat block mozzarella cheese. This means no shredded mozzarella, and not a fresh ball of mozzarella, but the kind you would use on pizza.
Frozen french fries are a great choice for making homemade poutine. Although you can make your own homemade fries, frozen fries are an easy choice that simplifies the process.

Poutine Recipe Tips
- Try changing up the flavor of your poutine by using different pulled pork! I like to make my pulled pork several different ways – teriyaki, BBQ, with peach sauce, and a spicy Portuguese version that’s just delicious.
- Make homemade gravy using pork or beef drippings to amp up the flavor even more!
- You can also make this recipe for poutine using beef. Try making it with leftover roast beef or leftover Barbacoa Beef!
