Air Fried Carrots
Air frying carrots is a simple and quick way to enjoy a side dish (or snack!) of roasted carrots. In my recipe for air fried carrots, I will show you not only how to air fry carrots, but offer the tips you need to roast them to perfection every time. Plus, I'll share the best dishes to serve with carrots in the air fryer for a complete dinner!
I used to not be a big fan of carrots until I tried roasting them in the air fryer with your recipe when cooking for friends who do like them. They taste amazing and have completely changed my mind about carrots!! Thank you!
Tools to Air Fry Carrots
- An air fryer. I love this air fryer model - I've used it for a long time now and it's by far my favorite out of the air fryers I've tested.
- A cutting board to prep the carrots for air frying.
- A sharp knife for cutting the carrots.
- A vegetable peeler if you want to peel the carrots. Peeling carrots is optional, just wash them well.
Ingredients for Air Frying Carrots
- Whole Carrots: I'm using fresh whole carrots for this recipe. Baby carrots won't turn out the same. Whole carrots roast well. For a pretty Easter presentation, try using rainbow carrots.
- Olive Oil: I recommend using light olive oil in the air fryer, or avocado oil.
- Salt and Pepper: Kosher salt or sea salt flakes, and freshly cracked black pepper, work best. You don't need a complex seasoning for air frying carrots - they taste fantastic without it. For an extra pinch of flavor, though, try adding a sprinkle of garlic powder.

Notes
- I like my carrots to still be a little firm in the middle, so this recipe will cook them to be cooked but still a little crunchy. If you like super soft carrots, try changing the cook time to 18 minutes!
- Salt and pepper are base seasonings- feel free to add any more you desire! Try adding garlic and parmesan or a dash of honey and brown sugar for some delicious twists.
- You can absolutely skip peeling the carrots! I love the rustic look and additional touch of chew that the skin adds. Just make sure to scrub the carrots extra well.
- To make this recipe even easier, use baby carrots! Just keep an eye on the smaller pieces so they don't burn.

Isabel's Air Fryer
It's amazing what you can cook with an air fryer! I love mine and highly recommend it. It even has a steaming function to re-hydrate stale bread!

FAQ
There's no one true way to cook carrots, as any cooking method has its merits. Steaming carrots will produce a uniformly cooked carrot with an unaltered carrot flavor. Roasting them cooks the outside and bottom of the carrot more, resulting in a crispier skin and more caramelized flavor.
If you're not a fan of the flavor of carrots, I highly recommend air frying them! Roasted carrots sweeten up and become more mild, with a caramelized flavor. You can add sauces to them to make them even more appetizing! I love adding a bit of bleu cheese dressing but all of your favorite sauces and dressings will taste great.
