They say making friends gets harder as you get older. I used to wonder if that would be true for me- especially when we first started thinking about buying a house at Currahee Club. Would we find community? Would we feel connected?
This past week gave me the most beautiful answer.
While the guys were off enjoying a golf tournament, a group of us gals decided to do brunch and visit a few local wineries along the Georgia Wine Trail. And let me tell you- whoever said making friends in your 50s is difficult has clearly never shared a day like that with a group of incredible women.
I would love to share my love of the North Georgia mountains with you, too. You and your friends can enjoy your time at my rental - check it out here!
We kicked things off at the charming Julep Farms, an absolutely adorable farm and restaurant. I almost went for my usual avocado toast (creature of habit!), but then I saw the chopped Asian salad at the table next to me... game over. It was stunning- and somehow tasted even better than it looked. Everything was finely chopped to perfection, making every bite fresh and flavorful. You know me… now I’m inspired to create a Sunday Supper version of chopped salads to share with you all soon.
From there, we made our way to Stonewall Creek Vineyards- one of my longtime favorites. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect to sit outside, sip local wine, and soak in the views. But the real surprise of the day? Terra Incognito Vineyards, a hidden gem tucked at the top of a mountain with the most breathtaking scenery. Thank you, Denise, for that incredible suggestion!
We laughed. We shared stories. We belly-laughed until our cheeks hurt. And in those moments, I was reminded that Sunday Supper isn't always about gathering around a table at home. It’s about creating moments of connection- wherever you are. It’s about the food, sure, but it’s always about the people.
Friendship is nourishment for the soul, just like a home-cooked meal. And this Sunday, my supper looked a little different… but it fed my heart all the same.
To new friends, new recipes, and shared laughter-
💛 Isabel
P.S. Keep an eye out- I’ll be working on a chopped salad recipe inspired by that brunch. I can’t wait to bring it to our Sunday Supper table!
