Pork Chops in the Instant Pot
Pork chops are a frequent dinner for my household, so I love coming up with new pork chop recipes to share with my family. This recipe for pork chops in the Instant Pot is one of their favorites!
It’s one of my favorites to make for them, too. Instead of dealing with splattered grease, you can put pork chops in the Instant Pot for a mess-free easy dinner! Plus, they’re ready to eat in just 30 minutes, so they’re perfect if you need dinner on the table quickly.
Instant Pot pork chops come out perfectly juicy and tender every time, with such great flavor. They go with just about every side dish, especially creamy mashed potatoes and green beans (the best!).

How to Cook Pot Pork Chops in the Instant Pot
- Pat pork chops dry and season generously with pork chop seasoning on all sides.
- Set Instant Pot to saute mode. Once hot, add in butter and allow to melt. Add in pork chops and brown on both sides, approximately 2 minutes on each side.
- Remove pork chops and set them aside. Press cancel on your Instant Pot to stop the sauté feature.
- Add chicken broth to your pot, and using a wooden spoon deglaze the bits of pork from the bottom of the pot.
- Add in Worcestershire sauce and mix well.
- Place your pork chops back inside the Instant Pot and secure the lid. Pressure cook for 7 minutes. When 7 minutes is up, allow pressure to naturally release on its own, about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes quick release.
- Set pork chops aside to rest on a serving dish. In a small bowl combine cornstarch and water and mix well. Add slurry into the remaining liquid inside your Instant Pot. Give a good mixing, and let thicken for about 5 minutes.
- Serve gravy over pork chops and enjoy!
Instant Pot Pork Chops Tips
- Sear pork chops: Searing your pork chops for a few minutes until golden prevents them from drying out while cooking. This helps lock in the moisture and keeps the pork chops juicy and tender!
- Bone-in pork chops: You can use bone-in pork chops for this recipe as well. I recommend adding an additional 2 minutes to the cooking time.
- Frozen pork chops: You won’t be able to get a good sear on your pork chops first if you use frozen pork chops, but you can pressure cook them as you normally would. Add 2 minutes of extra cooking time.

Do you pressure cook on high? How long would you cook thinner boneless porkchops? Thank you!!
Em Beitel says
Hi Hannah! Yes, pressure cook on high! For thinner chops, it depends on how thin they are, but for example, for half-inch boneless pork chops I would do about 4 minutes instead of 7 (leave the rest of the instructions the same). The internal temp should read 145°F when they’re done. Thank you for your question!
Hannah says
Thank you!! Also when searing, do you do high heat, med. high, or medium? Making this tomorrow. 😊

Super easy and the pork chops were AMAZING! The whole family loved it. Even my 4 year old!!
Em Beitel says
This is so awesome to hear, Julie! We’re so glad everyone loved it! Have you tried our smothered pork chops yet? They’re really easy too and the sauce is incredible. Thanks for your comment!

Does anything change if I double the recipe?
Em Beitel says
Hi Tracey! If you’re doubling the recipe, I would recommend cooking it in batches of 4 chops at a time. The pork chops wouldn’t cook correctly if you overlapped them. If you have a large Instant Pot you might be able to fit 1-2 more pork chops in there, but definitely don’t overcrowd the IP. Other than that, no changes.
