This is the best mimosa recipe ever. You haven’t had the perfect mimosa recipe until you’ve tried our MOMosa mimosa recipe! It’s a sherbet cocktail that will leave a big smile on your face with every sip. I know you’re going to love it!
This orange mimosa recipe is the real deal. It uses sherbet, so it’s so smooth and tastes like an orange creamsicle drink. I guarantee this will become your go-to fun and easy cocktail recipe!
What is a mimosa?
A mimosa is a mixture of champagne or sparkling wine and juice. Orange juice is the traditional choice for a mimosa recipe, but you can also use other fruity juices. Cranberry is another popular choice!
Mimosas are the perfect brunch cocktail recipe for a special day, especially if you’re serving them with eggs benedict.
I love making mimosas! If you ask me, they are one of the most fun cocktail recipes to make and enjoy, along with other fruity drinks like the Frosé (frozen rosé).
The Perfect “MOMosa”!
Mimosas are perfect as a Mother’s Day treat (this is a MOMosa, after all!). There is nothing I love more on Mother’s Day than spending time with my family while getting to enjoy a sweet treat like this!
And let me tell you, mimosas are even better when someone makes one for you! What could be better than a MOMosa to show mom you appreciate her?
You can make them non-alcoholic by using sparkling cider instead of champagne, so MOMosas are perfect for a baby shower, too!
Best Mimosa Recipe Ever
The only ingredient that can make a mimosa recipe even better is sherbet. Adding sherbet to this orange mimosa was the best idea. In fact, sherbet is what makes this MOMosa the best mimosa recipe ever!
Orange sherbet really sets our recipe apart from your average mimosa!
Top it off with orange juice, champagne, and some fresh fruit, and it tastes like an orange creamsicle drink. The sweet, fruity flavor makes a perfect pair with the champagne.
It really takes this mimosa drink to another level of deliciousness! It’s like adding your favorite ice cream to soda to make a float – but even better.
Mimosa Ingredients
- 2-3 scoops orange sherbet
- Splash of orange juice (how much is your preference)
- 1 cup champagne
- Optional: fruit for skewers, such as fresh berries
What’s in a mimosa?
I use a few scoops of orange sherbet as well as a little bit of orange juice to make these MOMosas, and the combination is so much more delicious than just using orange juice by itself.
The sherbet adds a creamy, smooth consistency to the mimosas that really elevates it. This is one of my favorite simple cocktail recipes for that reason! It tastes so fruity and delicious.
At the end, I like to add a little bit of fresh fruit. Raspberries and blackberries are my choice, but any fresh berries will do. How about adding some frozen strawberries or even a little peach?
Best Champagne for Mimosas
A true Champagne is the ultimate choice for a luxurious, delicious bubbly drink!
You can also use Cava or Prosecco, which are similar sparkling wines. Cava, a Spanish sparkling wine, or a dry Prosecco, an Italian sparkling wine, are perfect choices for making mimosas.
How to Make Non-Alcoholic Mimosas
To make non-alcoholic mimosas, use sparkling cider instead of wine or champagne.
Everyone can enjoy this delicious drink using sparkling cider! And trust me, you’re going to want to share this recipe with your friends. It is that good.
Best Mimosa Glasses
The most common mimosa glass to use is a champagne flute, but in order to fulfill the “MOMosa” status, I love to use mason jars!
There just isn’t enough room in those small champagne flutes for this mimosa cocktail. Give mason jars a try – they are a lot of fun!
How to Make Mimosas
- Add 2-3 scoops orange sherbet to a glass of your choice. For a smaller glass, use 2 scoops; for a larger glass, use 3.
- Slowly pour in 1 cup of champagne. It will fizz up quite a bit, so do this a little bit at a time and not all at once.
- Top off the glass with a splash of orange juice, according to taste.
Top with fruit such as fresh berries if you like.
Serve, and enjoy!
Family Foodie Tips
- Remember to always uncork your champagne with the cork facing away from yourself.
- Slowly pour in the orange juice and champagne. Don’t add it in all at once! The sherbet will fizz up quite a bit, so to avoid spilling over the glass, pour it in slowly.
- Try other flavors of sherbet, like raspberry, strawberry, or even rainbow, to mix things up! You could even use a mixture of flavors like raspberry and orange.
- Mimosa ratio: For a cup of champagne, 2-3 scoops of sherbet using a regular spoon is plenty.
Make a mimosa bar!
This mimosa recipe pairs perfectly with your favorite brunch recipes! I love it with an Eggs Benedict using Homemade Hollandaise Sauce, or a sweet treat like Strawberry Crumble.
It’s perfect for parties and Mother’s Day, and you can even make non-alcoholic mimosas for a baby shower. Even better if you make it a mimosa bar! Set out different flavors of sherbet and let people pour their own mimosas.
Our MOMosa recipe is even more perfect when paired with an avocado toast toppings bar.
