How to Make Strawberry Spinach Salad

Easy Spinach Salad Tips
- I wouldn’t recommend dressing your salad until you’re ready to serve, otherwise the spinach will wilt.
- Not a big fan of spinach? Try out arugula in this salad – or you could do half spinach and half arugula. Spring greens work well as well.
- I love topping this salad with crumbled feta cheese, but you could substitute it for blue cheese crumbles, or goat cheese.
- Swap out the strawberries in this recipe for blueberries, dried cranberries, raspberries, or mandarin oranges!
Make Ahead and Storage Tips
- To make ahead: You can easily prep this salad ahead of time and store the vinaigrette dressing on the side until ready to serve! Simply shake the dressing when ready to use.
- Storing: Store any undressed salad in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Refrigerate vinaigrette dressing for up to 5 days in an airtight container.
Strawberry Spinach Salad with Feta FAQs
Flat-leaf spinach, which baby spinach is a variety of, is the most popular type of spinach used in salads, and is what you will find when looking for spinach for salads in the grocery store produce section. It has a mild sweet-and-bitter flavor when raw that pairs well with sweet salad ingredients such as fruit, nuts, and tangy cheeses like feta and goat cheese. This is not the same as savoy spinach, which is best eaten cooked.
For spinach salad, you should not have to trim the spinach leaves of their stems, especially if you are using baby spinach. Unless you’re using a larger variety of full-grown spinach with sturdy stems, then it is not necessary.
What to Serve with Strawberry Spinach Feta Salad
This salad is perfect as a bright side dish or starter, but here are a few of my favorite ideas on how to make this a main dish salad:
- Chicken: I love making this strawberry salad with chicken, I like to alternate between grilled chicken, shredded chicken, smoked chicken, or roasted chicken breasts!
- Seafood: This salad is bright and flavorful, I love adding fried oysters, sous vide salmon, grilled crab, or grilled shrimp!
