- Season steaks on each side with Chicago Steak Seasoning or steak seasoning. Pat down seasoning, add steaks to a covered plate, and marinate for 2 hours overnight in the refrigerator.
- After marinating, brush both sides of the steak with olive oil. Then let the steaks come to room temperature on the counter for approximately 20 minutes.
- Place the steaks on the air fryer rack. Cook for 4 minutes at 390°F.
- Flip and cook for another 4 minutes. Remove and top with garlic butter sauce and let rest 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Air Fryer Filet Mignon Recipe Tips
- For best results, allow your steak to rest for at least 10 minutes after removing it from the air fryer.
- Slice against the grain using a sharp knife for the most tender steak.
- Measure the degrees of doneness using a meat thermometer and use my Steak Temperature Chart to cook to your perfect doneness. Four minutes on each side will produce medium rare filet mignon (so long as they are the same size as the recipe calls for).
- You can also use beef tenderloin in this recipe!

It’s amazing what you can cook with an air fryer! I love mine and highly recommend it. It even has a steaming function to re-hydrate stale bread!

Air Fryer Filet Mignon FAQs
Ultimately, how long it takes to cook steak in the air fryer depends on two factors: the thickness of your steak and your desired degree of doneness. For two 6-ounce filet mignon steaks cooked medium rare (135°F), it takes about 4 minutes on each side at 390°F. If you’d prefer yours a little more done, use a meat thermometer to measure doneness and add a minute to the cooking time as necessary.
Steak in the air fryer is more than just a time-saver: it creates a delicious, perfectly cooked steak with a nice crust. Air fryers are essentially small convection ovens, so they’re great for cooking steak all of the way through to your preferred doneness while “searing” it on the outside.
You should flip the steak in the air fryer halfway through the total cooking time for the best results. So, for this recipe, flip at the 4-minute mark, then cook another 4 minutes.
