Serve the juicy butter burger on a bun and garnish with your favorite burger toppings.
Best Burger Toppings
- Lettuce
- Tomato
- Onions
- Avocadoes
- Why not make it a Garlic Butter Bacon Burger (similar to the famous Sonic Burger, only better!) You can add Air fryer bacon or candied bacon
- Jack cheese, cheddar, or a creamy cheese to complement the garlic butter spread
You can top your air fryer burgers with your favorite hamburger toppings. I kept mine a simple garlic burger with garlic butter spread, lettuce, and tomato. Avocado is a great choice. Check out how to slice avocados perfectly.
This is the ultimate burger recipe: the beef in this homemade beef burger recipe is so flavorful on its own, you don’t need a lot of toppings for it to taste amazing!
Tips for Juicy Air Fryer Burgers
- Always preheat your air fryer prior to cooking
- The cooking time may vary slightly depending on your air fryer and also the thickness of your burgers. Test out your air fryer, you may need to adjust a minute or two.
- Everyone loves cheese on their burgers. If you’re a cheese lover, add your cheese immediately after the burger comes off the air fryer. Adding it while still in the fryer will create a huge mess. Trust me on this one.
- Do not overcrowd your air fryer. It is best to fry in batches so you get the crispy on the outside and soft on the inside perfection we are looking for. I love my 10-Quart Air Fryer for this recipe.
- Try topping air fryer burgers with BBQ hamburger toppings!

Side Dishes for Burgers
Fries are always welcome and a perfect pairing for burgers! Easy Baked Crispy Potato Wedges or other air fryer recipes, like these amazing Air Fryer Asparagus Fries.
Air Fryer French Fries are always a huge hit and so easy to make using frozen french fries. Reserve a little garlic butter spread to dip them in, and it’s even more amazing!
Another great choice is a simple green salad or tomato salad. And of course, potato salad is an excellent choice, too! We have Spanish potato salad and German potato salad varieties that go great with this simple burger recipe.
For drinks, try our Watermelon Mint Lemonade or our Moscato Sangria – yum!

Ryan says
Did you place the burgers in a rack inside the air fryer or use any parchment paper beneath the meat?
Em Beitel says
Hi Ryan! No need for parchment paper – we played them in the air fryer without any liners. If you have an air fryer with trays, set the burgers onto the trays and place in the air fryer as is. If you have an air fryer with a pull out drawer, do the same and don’t use any liners. Thank you for your question and I hope this helps!
