Best Pork Sandwich
Every time we visit family in Philly, we love going to the Reading Terminal Market. One of our favorite spots there is Dinic’s. The first time I tried the Dinic’s Roast Pork Sandwich, I knew I had to make it at home!
Philly is known for its cheesesteaks, but their Italian pork sandwich is a close second.
What I quickly realized is how easy it is to use any pork leftovers to make it. I use leftover pork chops and even pulled pork, and then put my spin on it by topping it with sauteed spinach instead of broccoli rabe.
It’s changed over the years – I keep adding to it! Remoulade sauce is the most recent addition and is a total game changer!
I am obsessed with this leftover pork sandwich recipe. Whenever I cook pork, I know I’m going to be making this sandwich the day after, and I always look forward to it.
If you don’t know what to do with your leftovers, this is the recipe for you. Our Philly Pork Sandwich is the best way to use up your leftovers, and is one of the most delicious sandwiches you will ever try.
Pork Sandwich Toppings
- Sauteed Spinach
- Remoulade Sauce
- Provolone Cheese
- Leftover pork
By far my favorite addition to this recipe is the remoulade sauce. This is my favorite sandwich with remoulade, next to my Hot Roast Beef Sandwich with Caramelized Onions.
Remoulade sauce is what makes our Philly sandwich recipe stand out. You haven’t lived until you try adding this tangy, spicy sauce to pork and spinach!
Broccoli rabe is a common choice for making an Italian pork sandwich like this recipe, but my family’s favorite is sauteed spinach with garlic. It cooks up in minutes and the flavor is perfect for pairing with this sandwich.
What kind of pork should I use?
Typically, this sandwich uses Italian roasted pork, but I love to use any leftovers I have on hand, like Oven Baked Pork Tenderloin. You can even make this a pulled pork sandwich!
Try making my Best Sous Vide Pork Chops with Bacon and use the leftovers for this dish. You will be so glad you did – they turn out perfectly moist and make the best sandwiches!
Another great option is our Tender Grilled Pork Butt. It is so tender and juicy!
What cheese goes with pork?
My favorite cheese to use with a Philly sandwich is provolone. It not overpowering and pairs well with the meat and flavor of the remoulade sauce and spinach.
