Easter Dinner Ideas
Easter has always been such a fun holiday for my family! Having kids (and then grand-kids!) meant that Easter was a time of Easter Egg hunts, painting eggs, hiding baskets of candy, and of course, a big Easter Sunday feast.
I admit, I love any holiday that gives me an extra excuse to see my family and cook a bunch of food. Who can blame me? There's no feeling like taking care of your loved ones, and sharing food is one of the greatest acts of love. Whether this is your first Easter supper or you're looking for new ideas to freshen up your annual Easter dinner, I guarantee you'll find something new among my Easter dinner ideas!
What to Serve for Easter Dinner
- Ham: What could be more classic Easter supper than a beautiful spiral-cut ham? have ham recipes for just about every cooking method, plus a variety of ham glazes to choose from.
- Potatoes: Scalloped potatoes are a classic side dish for Easter, with silky, cheesy sauce and tender potatoes. Or, try some of my other potato sides! I have plenty featured below.
- Asparagus: Fresh spring asparagus is at its very best around Easter. Pair it with fresh lemon and herbs for a bright and colorful vegetable side!
- Carrots: What's Easter without carrots? Rabbits might not actually eat carrots, but they're amazing for us, and their beautiful color will brighten your Easter spread. Plus, if you have picky kids to feed, it's easier to get them to eat their veggies - the Easter Bunny eats carrots!
- Mac and Cheese: Who can resist comforting, cozy macaroni and cheese for Easter? Not only is it a huge hit with kids, but a good pasta dish will help bulk out dinner. I personally love mac and cheese with my ham.
- Eggs: They're a classic decoration, but eggs are also so much fun to cook up and serve for Easter. They're thematic and delicious! My favorite is my recipe for jalapeno deviled eggs.
- Salad: A big salad served with Easter dinner really says "Spring"!
- Easter Desserts: From cakes to pie, the perfect finish for a Easter Sunday supper is an Easter themed dessert.
Easter Ham Recipes
There's just no main course for Easter quite like like a big Easter ham! It's my favorite, and I love picking between different glazes to make the perfect flavor profile. But if you're looking for something a little different, you can always try a beautiful Stuffed Pork Roast, Grilled Lamb Chops, a gorgeous Roast Chicken, or a succulent Roast Beef!

Easter Prime Rib Recipes
One of my personal favorite entrees to serve for Easter is prime rib. I've prepared it every way imaginable! My prime rib recipes are easy even for beginners to make, so even if you haven't made prime rib for Easter before, give one of these recipes a try and I guarantee you will love the results.
Easter Potato Recipes
Historically, potatoes were one of the last vegetables that people would have from their winter harvest, so serving the last potatoes for the Easter feast was the perfect way to call in Spring! Nowadays, the time of year has less to do with when potatoes are served, and more that they're delicious. Nobody can deny how tempting a big casserole dish of scalloped potatoes is set out on the dinner table.
Easter Asparagus Recipes
Asparagus is absolutely perfect in spring, and it's probably the only season you can get it on sale if you're shopping on a budget! Asparagus has a bright, fresh flavor that deserves a place on any Easter menu.
Easter Carrot Recipes
There isn't a single veggie out there that screams "Easter" quite like carrots. Even aside from the association with rabbits, carrots are perfect as a spring vegetable! They're perfectly tender and ready to eat by Easter in some climates, and there's no better indication that spring is on the way than a big plate of beautiful, sweet carrots.
Easter Vegetable Sides
Carrots and asparagus are the Easter classics, but you can't go wrong with Easter veggie recipes! Anything fresh and green will look and taste amazing, such as Brussels sprouts, fresh English peas, or young green beans. Make use of those spring produce sales!
Easter Pasta Recipes
Creamy pasta is a classic side or main dish for Easter! I love serving up an Easter spread with a lovely mix of spring colors, which makes cheesy Easter macaroni and cheese or fresh and bright Avocado pasta perfect choices. Make plenty! These Easter noodle dishes go fast!
Easter Egg Recipes
Eggs are for more than decorating at Easter! For even more fun, hard boil a big batch of eggs, decorate them with the whole family, and then serve them up as Deviled eggs later to make arts and crafts into a delicious side dish. I've included my favorite deviled eggs recipe, plus all the best ways to easily hard boil eggs!
Easter Dessert Recipes
A big Easter supper menu deserves a beautiful Spring dessert! Carrot cake is a classic, but sweet and sour strawberry rhubarb or light and shareable cheesecake bars are a great choice, too. I like to make something like a cheesecake so I can prepare it ahead of time and not worry about whipping up dessert on the same day.
Easter Menu Expert Tips
- Plan ahead for your guests! If you've got vegetarians in attendance, make sure to prepare plenty of vegetable side dishes, and avoid adding any extra bacon or meat.
- Make as much as you can head. Scalloped potatoes, pasta, desserts and glazes can all be made ahead so there's as little day-of prep as possible!
- To keep to your budget, make sure to shop in-season vegetables. Vegetables that are in season will not only taste better, but are often on huge sales!
Save money: shop after-Holiday sales!
If you can celebrate Easter a day or two late, pick up a ham once they go on sale. I've bought beautiful spiral-cut ham for as low as 60 cents a pound because I had to have Easter late! Or, if you have freezer space, purchase extra ham to store in the freezer for later.
Leftover Easter Ham Recipes
Make the best of leftover ham by using it in all sorts of delicious leftover ham recipes! In my opinion, the leftover ham might be the best part. And make sure to save the ham bone for flavorful ham bone soup, one of the best soups I've ever tasted!
Easter Supper Recipes FAQ
A classic Easter dinner includes ham, potatoes, fresh spring vegetables, and of course, deviled eggs! However, every family has their own traditions. The most important part is to make your own memories and cook what you love.
While it varies from region to region, April tends to support cool-weather vegetables such as beans, carrots, onions, leeks, and asparagus, as well as early fruit like strawberries and limes! This means that these produce selections will be extra tender and delicious, and are often on sale, too!
